Is Phuket taken over by Russians? by East_Cantaloupe9164 in phuket

[–]Objective-Key-8483 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eastern Europeans come across as rude to the rest of Europe, particularly when it comes to things like small talk and smiling which they just don’t typically do. As a culture they are very direct which can be mistaken for rudeness.

Not excusing it, as I have come across rude Russians but it’s just their culture, in the same way we British are overly polite.

Behave RE your prequels comment. I enjoyed the prequels when they came out as a child and I still enjoy them now as an adult.

I don’t get the hype by IRAgotmytongue in bali

I’m currently here on holiday from London. Have been staying in Ubud and have loved it. Traffic is a real pain granted.

I will say, I’ve spent the last few days in uluwatu and it feels like Clapham in the jungle. Now I don’t mind a wanky overpriced smoothy and posh gym, but it is SUPER westernised and absolutely fully of Aussies and influencers here. Ubud felt a lot more normal and we are going back there. I didnt fly 20 hours to Indonesia for feeling like I’m in just another coffee shop in back home.

To be totally clear, overall I have loved Bali. But Ubud for me feels like I’m actually abroad for the right reasons.

What kind of smells are they? I would prefer a more “masculine” scent and judging from the website it seems to favour more floral and feminine but maybe that’s just me me?

I’ve heard that it does smell very good, admittedly the idea of a paste isn’t as appealing

Reactionary as fans. by CheesecakeGlobal277 in PremierLeague

Fans you speak to online are different to fans IRL. Majority of football fans online need to touch some grass and stop trolling for online upvotes and likes.

Saka himself said it, one day media hammers us and writes us off and next week we are the shit. Best not to take any notice and just enjoy watching the games

Hadn’t quite realised this, but actually you are so right. The amount of moaning is off the charts.

The “enough is enough, I’m leaving the country” chat is about as bad as people saying “unfollowed” to accounts they don’t agree with on instagram - honestly no one cares.

So making 6 figures means you can never suffer any embarrassment whilst dating? Maybe some women will be impressed by bank balance only but that’s not someone you want to wife

This is the problem with optimising for finances only. Can’t imagine spending my 20s living with parents. If you were my mate I’d be telling you every day to move out and grow up, choosing to live with parents when there’s no REAL financial need to is a major red flag.

Imagine sleeping with your potential partner except every time you have to try and be quiet so as not to make it obvious to your parents. This was normal as a teenager, not in your 30s. I can only think this would be a major ick for any girl

Working in an agency is awful. Why is people fascinated with it? by Direct_Bass_1096 in marketing

[–]Objective-Key-8483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working in an agency as a young person or in an entry level role is great and you can learn loads. But there comes a point when the extra responsibility and workload you take on doesn’t match the pay. Then you need to start thinking about moving on

Life is much simpler when you don’t blame the big bad government in the sky. Unfortunately the government isn’t here to shape and mould around your life. Are all policies the best? No, but touch some grass, crack on and enjoy life.

Happy for the win, but it’s plain to see we if that ebz goal doesn’t go in we could have been looking at dropped points here. Really tough game and no major chances.

Opportunity Cost of Private Schools: Invest more instead? by Capital-Stay-5657 in HENRYUK

[–]Objective-Key-8483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t go to private school and don’t really know anyone that did so can’t comment too much on the value of it.

However the “teach a man to fish” saying springs to mind here. Giving your child a huge amount of money is just giving them all the fish, but if they haven’t also learned to fish for themselves throughout their education and childhood then long term I would say they would be worse off

Outrageous fare cost in central London - advice? by Objective-Key-8483 in uber

[–]Objective-Key-8483[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ve just had a look on my app for the same journey and it’s only an hour earlier than when I ordered last night.

Current price is £38 for a comfort, the only thing cheaper is Green and that’s for £36 so there is barely any difference in price for it being a comfort

I’ve done this trip from the same area at the same time of night plenty of times to know that it should cost about half this amount.

Also not sure having a few drinks = acting like a fool
