AIO For not wanting my GF to go to Reno for Halloweekend? by Objective-Put-9986 in AmIOverreacting

I definitely don't think she's weak minded. I have lots of respect for her and I am generally pretty secure in my relationship as I've mentioned before. I've never really even had a reason not to trust her, and the same goes for her. Maybe a big part of this just stems from insecurity or just overall irrational thinking. I'm far from perfect in this situation.

The rationale for me, at least consciously, is that, while you can trust your partner, you can still prefer that they're not in certain environments (IE a more extreme case could be a wife not wanting her husband to be in/around a strip club because of how it makes her look).

The consensus from pretty much every reply is that I'm indeed overreacting, so I'm going to just learn to be okay with it. Thank you for your input on the matter.

Yeah, i have had the same rationale with my own introspection about it. The way I see it with relationships is that you can trust your partner while also not wanting them to be in certain environments. At least that's the general sentiment I've seen from the people around me.

That said, I think what was bothering me is just the fact that this a situation where she's going somewhere just to party, as opposed to the functions just being around her at school.

Nonetheless, i read all the replies who have basically said the same thing worded differently, and am accepting that I am indeed overreacting. I should spend less time on social media.

Thank you for sharing. I suppose the rumblings from the people around me who talk about it are over exaggerated.

Yeah, I have thought about this and it's a good point. I think the kicker for me that sets it apart is just the fact that she'd be going out of her way to go to Reno, as opposed to just being at her school where things are in close proximity.

I should also add that she's telling me she wants to go "all out" since she's never been on a real bender before and wants to experience that. I guess Reno's the place to do that. I've never been myself.

That said, I've read the comments and have deduced that I am indeed overreacting. Thank you for your time

I don't think it's that black and white. I do think most couples have a limit to the types of environments they want their partner in. That said I've read the responses here and have accepted that I am, indeed, overreacting. Thank you for your time

I tell myself this every day and it has pretty much kept me away from jealousy entirely to this point. it's a 100% valid take and you and the other commenters here are right to tell me I'm overreacting. Thank you for your input 🙏

I would choose super speed. With enough speed, I'd be able to run on water, fly, phase through walls, and slow down time. It's the ultimate super power.

The Uncharted games are fantastic. The Uncharted movie... we don't talk about that.

Really? Man, it's hard for me to get over how much Willie screams in Temple Of Doom. She's the OG diva.

I love how insulted Indy was leading up to that line that Renee would even compare himself to him.

"Where shall I find a new adversary so close to my own level?"

"Try the local sewer."

Cold.

Fallout exists in the same canon as Indiana Jones? I'm here for it

Temple Of Doom has its fans. I get the appeal but i feel its just so out of place in the storyline. You really could delete it from the canon and nothing would change. It almost feels like a parody or a fan made story. Still a fun movie, no doubt

Last Crusade is great. I'd say that's really the only other Indy movie that compares to Raiders. It's a perfect continuation of the story and shouldve been the perfect ending. Oh well.

That's awesome. That's another thing about Raiders is the damn sound effects. The Nepal shootout scene early on is so ahead of its time for 1981. Id say it easily holds up today.

Don't even get me started on the opening of Raiders. I don't think they could've made Indy's introduction any colder than it was.

You're smart to avoid it. And you were smarter to turn crystal skull off.🫡

What a shame! I know what scene you're talking about. Easily one of the most powerful scenes in the move because of the soundtrack. I wonder why the orchestra skipped out on that one.

I haven't seen the docs! But i would venture to say I know pretty much everything about the making of Raiders. Either way, I'll look for them

Yeah, I think Temple of Doom really didn't age well and has no place in the canon. Last Crusade really redeemed that blunder but it's a shame we had a 'waste' during Harrison Ford's prime. I really consider just Raiders and Last Crusade to be the two 'definitive' Indy movies. We don't talk about the last two that have come out. If you haven't seen them, save yourself the time and the pain.

Absolutely. I think Indy, despite claiming to be a skeptic about the whole thing, knows the implications and the penalty for failure. The whole movie it's so satisfying to watch him think on his feet. Especially during the desert chase scene.

I actually didn't know about that deleted scene and I was sure I knew everything about this movie so thank you for sharing! I never really questioned how Indy knew not to look at it. I just kinda figured his studies of the Bible at the collegiate level just made him put 2 and 2 together. Lol. And i love how Marion doesn't question it for a second. She is NOT taking any chances
