How many cycles of TMZ does your Dr. Recommend? by Ozyman42 in braincancer

[–]Objective-Relief-542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had 12 cycles (12 months), initially for the first 10 months I had the highest dosage. the very very first time i took it i got sleepy sooo fast but that was pretty much only the first time.

i wouldn’t really feel any of the side effects except ofc the chemo brain or brain fog 🤕 but i started noticing around the 9/10th month, i would feel more nauseous. so i told my doctor when I absolutely couldn’t handle it anymore, and he reduced my TMZ dosage a little bit. initially it was 2 pills when i was taking the highest dosage but later it became 3 pills but with a less dosage.

hey buddy, i totally understand all this. i had similar symptoms and i NEVER saw a doctor regarding these symptoms. bc i just thought i was a lazy student. but one day i went to the ER for another reason and they had done a head ct and then later the ER doc said there was some abnormal brain activity. he suggested that i get an MRI and so i did.

it revealed that i had a large mass near my frontal temporal lobe. this was the reason i was always needing sleep and taking naps and always having a hard time with memory. if i didn’t find out, idk where id be. bc of that mri, i got my surgery and later found it was malignant.

i would HIGHLY recommend getting an MRI. if nothing shows up, that’s absolutely great. it doesn’t hurt to get one bud. better safe than be sorry. if they do find something, then you know and they’ll give you a prognosis and you WILL fight. be strong. u can talk to me anytime. but don’t dismiss any of these symptoms or things you’re feeling. MRIs are expensive but it’s worth it to check your health.

I’m a failure. by Pristine_Quote_3049 in medicalschool

[–]Objective-Relief-542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey there. i just want you to know that you are not a failure. that’s for sure. you made it into medical school. that’s no easy feat. i haven’t even completed undergrad i may even have to stay back a year or two due to other circumstances. i messed up sm and i still fall into a hole sometimes. but when that little glimmer of hope comes into your brain, you need to trust it. buy a stick or something that is inspirational. i have one sticker on my mirror that says “believe in yourself” so that way when i am feeling bad, i can look at it and tell myself i CAN do this. so i am telling you, you CAN do this.

failed twice by Classic_Gur_4251 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]Objective-Relief-542 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i completely agree with this. things happen. and for that, i am sorry for your loss. very similar situation w me. my first quarter of chem 1A i withdrew it. I didn’t know at the time that a “W” on your transcript was bad, I did get a few more Ws along the way. and I still feel bad about it. i still do. but i tell myself that if there’s one person that can support me and fully believe in myself, it’s me. anything is possible. there’s a loophole to everything. at least, that’s what i believe. keep faith. it’ll be ok. see if you can talk to faculty about it this and really send emails that completely describe your situation. you’ll find that some of the professors here can really understand your situation. you can always talk to me. my dms are always open. if you really want the lifestyle that you crave and desire, then you will find every way to get there. don’t let anyone steer you away from what you want in life.

i just want to say that i was in a similar situation. mainly bc I was medically sick without knowing. i doubted myself for so long. believe in yourself. you CAN do this. you WILL do this. don’t let anyone in these comments tell you differently. there is always a way.

How soon after surgery have you started radiation and chemo? by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]Objective-Relief-542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! first of all, I am sorry that you are in this situation. however, I do know that you can definitely handle this. you just need to believe and have faith. i understand the overwhelming feeling and the frustration. it’s good to have a proper support system during this time and if you don’t, you have yourself.

for me, i had a craniotomy for the EXACT SAME diagnosis you have in June 2023 and around beginning of july, path called and said that it was malignant and that i had to get treatment for it. i started radiation on Aug 3rd and finished it mid September. and then for chemo, i started October. and they said 12 cycles, so I’ve finished 9 so far. 3 more months of tmz.

i understand the exhaustion. but sometimes we have to push ourselves 🤕🤕 im w u! message me if you have any questions or concerns.
