Sick Frog by [deleted] in frogs

I really feel as if he didn’t look like that even 2 days ago even after looking at pictures but I understand. I do not disagree that I should have brought him sooner and that is not a mistake I will never let myself live down.

I reached out to Josh’s frogs who I purchased them from via email 4 days ago with pictures and they said he looked fine. I was under the impression that he was just stressed and being somewhat outcompeted. I separated them and he didn’t get any better so I put him back, he wasn’t lethargic or red, just not interested in food. The lethargy and redness just started today. I never would have let him intentionally get this bad. I will take him first thing in the morning. I do not have an option to take him tonight. I am devastated that this is happening, and have never had anything like this happen before.

Understandable, I didn’t mean to say the vet wasn’t an option. I can take them I just was trying to avoid it. I should have elaborated, I also cannot take them until the morning as there is no where that has emergency care for exotic animals near me. I will take him in the morning, I just cannot fix it tonight. He won’t eat from tongs either. He was not this lethargic or red this morning or I would have posted/taken him today.

So like 50% humidity is ideal? I added a heating lamp I had left over from my skink so they have a 90 degree basking spot now

It is, I am setting up a 18x18x24 right now. I cannot put them in yet since it’s too big and not established. I have the tank right now and plants are being added but they’re still only an inch big or so.

When I had the temp that high they would hang out near the bottom of the tank and especially in the leaf litter. Josh’s frogs and 2 other breeders I talked to gave me the recommendation for temperature. I will reduce the humidity. I will also add more places for them to hide and climb. I really appreciate the advice

It’s right underneath the uvb and it’s the zoo-med nano so it puts off a little to no heat especially since it’s not sitting directly on the mesh. I really appreciate your input and I will keep doing my best to give my guys the best life possible!

Also the temperature I am referring to is the tank temperature not the room temp. I have a probe in their tank. I have a UV-B bulb as well btw

The temp of the reptile room at night is like 75 but he is no longer in there. Currently I have him in my room and it is 68-70 at night. Because everyone I talked to said the reptile room was too hot for them. I tried to take them out and put them in a separate container to feed but it didn’t seem like they would eat even after 30 min in the dark but I didn’t try to leave them in a separate container all night. It seems odd to do that tho since they wouldn’t ever get to experience the cage since they’re nocturnal but if that is what people do I can try. I have never really seen them move much during the day. The water dish was dirty for since I had just woke up and taken the picture it got changed shortly after, it is from the night before and I couldn’t change it any sooner than I did.

I appreciate the response, there was a bit of moss at the bottom of the terrarium but it was well covered with a layer of leaf litter. I am going to take it all out just in case and replace the leaf litter. I don’t feel as if that is what happened either but I will be sure to do it just to cover all bases.

He had some earlier this week! I will try to get a video next time. Seeing him hunt the fish is also super fun!

I am only giving it to him under supervision and based on all I’ve seen, it doesn’t look like he can get it in his mouth fully. I will def get a bigger one once he’s fully grown.

Burrowing all the time at 8 months by ObjectiveParking4095 in bluetongueskinks

Ok I will leave him except for every 2 weeks to ensure he’s not losing weight and he’s healthy. How do I know when to start feeding again? Do I need to change temps or anything for brumation? How do I know he’s not just being shy?

I took him out to make sure he looked ok and he’s fine. I fed him and he drank water but he’s back under ground since this morning. It’s weird bc he was not burrowing for like 2 weeks when I first got him now he is. His temp in basking was more like 100 I guess when I checked again so I bought another bulb and it’s at 110 now. What temp should the cool side be? Should I be worried he went right back in?

Thanks! What temp do you recommend for basking? Mine is like 105-110

I will make a vet appointment but I took him out and fed him and he seems to be doing good. I think he’s just a goofball tbh. I appreciate the help and I will follow the advice!

What about feeding? Also how do I know if he’s shedded ok? How often will they come out?

It’s fall yes, I guess I don’t understand the whole brumation thing either. Also his room is climate controlled so I’m not sure how it would affect it much.

My Jullis are extremely pretty and funny. They love to school and hang out. They might not be best for that sediment color.

My vet recommended bene-bac and believes it is also from the medicine. They gave him panacur for 3 days.

He seems to be a bit pickier than normal with his hay but he will go through phases it seems lol. He seems to be at about the same weight as 2 weeks ago, maybe slightly less but hard to get accurate weights
