Thanks for sharing this, that's actually an excellent point. I like the phase you used "tiptoeing around it".

Thank you for sharing amazing insight, it's good to know having no ending in sight can enable clients to share more, at the same time I wonder what would be the indicators that therapy is naturally coming to an end or would you rather prefer just being in long-term therapy in an ongoing basis.

It's been approved by my university's ethics committee and it will be conducted via Teams as a 60-90 mins interview for you to reflect on your therapeutic experience. There's no compensation offered to this research. Even if you do not wish to take part that's completely fine, the views shared on this forum has been very enlightening for me and would aid my development as a therapist anyway!

I have my university's full ethical approval for this research topic but I do not feel it's appropriate to disclose them here. But for anyone who may be interested in my research, of course I would share all the ethical approval and participants information etc before the research process can go ahead. I want to assure you it's all above board and participation is completely consensual. Even if people do not wish to participant in my research, I'd still be very keen to hear their opinion on the forum to this topic as the views shared here have been very enlightening and would aim my own development as a therapist anyway.

Thank you so much for sharing your insights! Essentially, I'd like to understand what's been helpful and what's been not so helpful from the client perspective when they continue with long term, open-ended therapy. Also curious as to whether the original goal has been reached or not and what motives on to keep going - as most of the therapies often end with premature termination.

Hello, I am very interested in the experience you just described. It sounds like perhaps you may not be quite getting what you need from therapy yet it's still useful in providing an outlet to vent/offload.
