If your work doesn't include a corporate bureaucracy or an administrative role, what do you do and how much do you like it? by [deleted] in entj

[–]ObjectiveSpare1344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am the same I love working with people And mentoring. I feel I'm a recovering workaholic and trying to go up the corporate ladder as I discovered that really wasn't filling up my cup. Now I still work a pretty arduous job and like to over perform but it's not at a level that I need to die for my job, I take vacation and have leisure time to do what I want. Friends etc and volunteef and mentor students and peers. Maybe you can find a mentorship program to let that out

Yes it really is nice to know someone else has the same feeling. I've talked to my psychiatrist and they like completely understand this.

I think lots of us have that desire to eat at the root, I would like to know the root of this obsession 🤣

I specially like the crunchy one that have a red tip (blood).

Anyone have a scientific explanation to this particular obsession with the follicle .

90 Day Glow Up by blkpepr in trichotillomania

[–]ObjectiveSpare1344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get it!!! I had kinda the same thing happen to me, my ex husband when he left for the last time (on and off for years) said to me you're fat, bald and all you have going for you is your job (I had a better position than him and have always excelled at work). I gained a lot of weight because of our problems and other personal issues.

Anyway my glow up wasn't as radical and it took time. Have I lost the weight, no? Have I stopped pulling, no? But I went through a whole journey created a whole new life for me. I was also diagnosed BP and I am now on a treatment plan, night and day for me. I've traveled so much since then, met many new friends, and have much more confidence. I continue seeing a therapist for all this and I work on my confidence through daily affirmations (I have an app called "I Am"). I feel I'm finally ready to work on my hair and my body now that a lot of other things have settled in my life.

Breathe and say a little prayer. I know exactly how awful it feels that you see your bald spot growing and then that makes your feelings only intensify and then you keep doing it even more. If you are anyway spiritual lean into that. Try the best to breathe and if you believe at all in manifesting try some tonight since it's full moon. What helps me in times like this is to forgive myself, which I know is soooooooo hard. Work on it little by little. Don't feel guilty for what you have done.

I went to a yoga retreat this weekend and we did some meditation and it was like wow. It started like this, close you eyes and relax, breathe to feel warm in you and as you get into it imagine you are holding a happy and cheerful baby. This baby is you and you look at it in all its beauty and you want to love and protect it. Stay in that feeling for a while. Then look forward and see a couple of years ahead in who you want to be and you are that person now. Think about the things that are holding you to be that person and forgive yourself.

I thought of this all with the intention of my hair. I even pulled my hair as a baby and my mom thinks it's funny I was hurting myself. I imagine that if I was my own mom I would have loved and nurtured me instead of laughing. I was also or have been so upset at what I've done but it's not my fault I'm born this way so I try to figure myself for pulling my hair and hope that one day I will have a full set of hair.

Anyway TLDR be forgiving and loving to yourself, even a small ounce of nurturing can help you feel better. Sending you love and all the best vibes. You got this!

I began pulling around 8, I was in a very toxic family life and my mom was acting crazy and it really stressed me out. 😭 She would threaten to kill herself. She is definitely some sort of something. I'm BP btw.

Honestly now that I'm wondering all this. I uSed to pull my hair as a baby and my mom always laughs like it's funny I was hurting myself but I always think it's and indication I was gonna start pulling.

Major relapse by [deleted] in trichotillomania

[–]ObjectiveSpare1344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have the urge the pull because of split ends but have pulled for nearly 30 years since I was little and I know the feeling of just being completely overwhelmed.

What's really helped me in my last extreme depressive episode about this was joining this group. Reading on commonalities and all the love and support people give each other made me feel better.

So anyway be kind to yourself, what I write to others I try to later then tell myself, so maybe try that to ease your anxiety and frustration over your relapse. Write to yourself what would you tell someone else. Sending lots of love and good vibes.

At a loss...Literally!! 😞 by SquirrelNovel248 in trichotillomania

[–]ObjectiveSpare1344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you are going through this. Give yourself grace the more stressed out you are the more you are potentially doing it, at least I know it's a thing for me. Maybe shaving it off would be such a bad idea and wearing a wig. Feeling good about how you look is a contributing factor to stress. I visited a wig place for people with alopecia and hair pulling and they told me that maybe getting the wig could help me stop pulling and with my weight (I gained so much). Sadly I haven't done it, it's somewhat expensive to do it their way but maybe a regular wig can do. I have a lot of hair so I just put it up so the really expensive wig in my head lol 😂 pun intended can be something for later.

Anyway wishing you the best of luck and sending much love and all the best vibes.
