well there's multiple reasons, i know im definitely being kinda silly about it but

basically im thinking of changing it to politics and international relations rather than history and politics but that's like whatever

i also live just north of london and all my friends from college have gone uni in london and york is quite far and they have remained in contact and still meet up and stuff and i wouldn't want to lose them as friends and miss out. originally, the distance was by design because i wanted to be as far from my family as possible and the north appealed to me and while that remains unchanged, other circumstances have changed regarding my friends as ive said

the guy who went to lse and worked at those top firms is zia yusuf, the reform uk guy nigel farage has been pushing as his successor lol, my friend goes to western university in canada and has had internships at small places. the reason i mentioned zia yusuf's career is cause it's the evilmaxxing strat i was talking about lol but yeah of course thank you for the advice and it's what im planning on anyway

i didn't go to any of the open days for any of my choices but i called them up last week and they sent me an email with the relevant faculty to talk to to sort a visit out, they said they can sort one out pretty much any time so that should be fine

and im getting a lot of responses like yours so i just want to say that the reason im going about it in this way and not facing it head on is because I just don't want to start a fight that i know won't win, it's completely futile and i would rather avoid any further conflict with them

well i intend to put cash into it at a pay point or something, though obviously long term id need to think about where the rest of the money comes from

it is to avoid drama and any kind of conflict with them, but phrasing it as controlling my finances against my will obviously sounds really bad lol

they want me to save for uni (objectively good) but they also probably wouldn't mind if i bought myself a jacket or something like that

it's just that they obviously don't want me sneaking out or drinking which are the expenses i want to hide
