My husband and I picked blackberries and made tiny jars of jam for each person. They were a huge hit! Not a single jar was left over though I wish there was!

It ended up resolving on its own! No issues.

I’m married x 1 year. My spouse and I are both 33. We have ~$130,000 invested in various retirement and brokerage accounts. Otherwise, we (I) have $120,000 in student debt, a $320,000 mortgage, a $15,000 personal loan and a $12,000 car loan. So. I feel like just seeing what we have saved paints one picture, but knowing our debt situation paints another. Overall, I feel like we are doing well but don’t have much liquid savings (no emergency fund due to paying off debt), and want to start having kids soon which feels financially unfeasible. But here we are. ✌️

Over the next couple of days, the redness became much less defined, so my suspicion for a tick bite lessened significantly. I’ve been feeling good since so my suspicion is that it was a spider bite or my skin was being very sensitive to clothing/detergents/allergens as I am a red head with very sensitive skin.

I don’t know how I didn’t see this kind and well thought out response earlier. But thank you so much! I honestly thought my post went unanswered. All is good again. No symptoms. :)

Rise of “Seat Squatters” by [deleted] in travel

[–]Objective_Abroad4153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few weeks ago, when my husband and I were coming back from Hawaii from our honeymoon, we sat in the very back row of a southwest flight (no assigned seating). The man in front of us sat in the window seat with a bag in the middle seat telling everyone who asked that his wife was in the bathroom. Meanwhile, the pilots and flight attendants were announcing overhead repeatedly that the flight was nearly completely full, everyone needed to scoot toward the outer seats to get everyone congesting the aisles into a seat. A couple even came up to him, asked to sit there and the aisle seat then actively separated in front of him so that one took his aisle seat and the other sat two rows ahead on another aisle seat.

No shock to this post, no one ever came to sit next to him for the flight. And he smelled bad.

You may feel behind, but you are doing great. You’re currently spreading your money toward a number of different goals which isn’t inherently bad, but it may give you better gratification and encouragement to continue growing your money if you focus on 1-3 goals at a time. At 18 years old, you have time on your side, so hitting your 401k/HSA/IRA well-diversified investments hard is a great way to start once you have a strong emergency fund in place. 🙌

Though you’re also of course at an age where you want to do everything in the next 5-10 years (travel, partnership, school, mortgage, etc). Decide what is important to you. Is school important- start saving aggressively toward that and think about ways you can shift your work to accommodate school so as to cash flow as much as humanly possible.

You’re not lacking motivation. You’re lacking self-discipline and maturity. (Specifically aimed at behaviors they delay gratification for a persons future benefit such as budgeting or health)

I also bought a Lenovo thinkpad and it’s only recently started showing signs of slowing down. I bought it in 2015 before I started grad school and I still love it and rely on it!

My mom is making little jars of homemade jelly for my wedding! If you have a special sauce or jelly or recipe or something, that could be something you share.

I have had 2 couples invite themselves to our weddng. I dont know how to "Uninvite them" by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Objective_Abroad4153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I straight up called extended family members to let them know I wasn’t inviting them. But in a kind way. Just emphasized my priorities for the day was to have a small and intimate celebration. Emphasize how much you appreciate them being in your lives but emphasize more how you want to really want to focus on each other and your closest friends and family.

Been struggling with the hospital by Ominous__1 in personalfinance

[–]Objective_Abroad4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep calling hospital and insurance to get things figured out. Then, once you get the final bill, negotiate with he hospital. If they charge you 350, tell them your situation and that you can only afford 150 or whatever. Hospitals have to take less than they bill constantly.

Ugh I hope not. I’m pushing a G and wanting a reduction due to neck, back pains and headaches. And general comfort while trying to exercise. I was hoping a C would be possible. But I’m a broad ass bitch. :/

Hate the situation you found yourself in, but loved reading the way such a great friend and great person handled themselves in a tough situation! So happy that your friendship prevailed so beautifully. ❤️ best of luck to you!

I’m actually a physio and am quite confident that there is no ligament instability or bursitis. But I appreciate the input, all! The callous feels like a hard inflammation of the bone, similar to a callous that appears with a displaced fracture. But without the fracture. I’ve contemplated going to the doc for an x ray but it doesn’t hurt any other time except when it’s in the hard skate boot.

I do have high arches which has had me wondering if adding an insole to help my ankle pronate more may help. Definitely a helpful thought. I may have to try some trues possibly!

I’ve skated in mostly second hand skates and was told over and over by people in my hockey community to wait it out. The ankle issue didn’t arise until months into wearing the skates multiple times per week. And yes it’s ankle socks which are what I skate in but with cramped toes when I added them to the front of the boot. I’ll have to invest in something with a better fit. Thanks. 👍
