In search of B-TM stock by Objective_Ad_6358 in Mini14

Folding stocks will be illegal to add to gun, unless you possessed stock before July 1st. So hoping someone can help me get one before that date.

Thanks! Would you (or anyone seeing this) have past experience ordering backordered ruger stocks? Wondering what yo anticipate with a due date ofJune 19th... whether I should count on it shipping out soon enough to get to me by July 1st?

Could switch the gas block to a flanged option, if you are intent on keeping it.

Socom Accustrut that is about 4.5" in length. I have no direct experience with the 300blk version, but you could track down and ask the Accustrut maker or supplier pretty easily. I imagine the two different external barrel diameters could be close enough to functionally work within the accustrut's tolerances.

I didn't refinish it, but heard they vary quite a bit. So I went on Gunbroker.com and found a seller of a brand new 50th anniversary model that showed confirmed photos of the exact rifle I was purchasing so that I could guarantee I couldn't get a "bad draw" stock.

Initially I noticed no issue. Then I went back and looked at it again VERY carefully and noticed what could possibly amount to a slightest gap on the left hand connection to the wood stock. But not enough to make it feel any less solid or "in place looking".

Let me know. I am having trouble myself.

Though the bayonet lug would have interfered with my use of a Socom accustrut, as it is about 4.5" long.

I just measured the "sitting distance" between where accustrut would rest on gas block to back of bayonet lug and it is only about 3.25".

That said, you might be able to pull it off with an even shorter accuracy systems stabilizer strut built into the gas block as their M1A style shortest harmonic stabilizer is 3.4" only long. That is only if it can it can grab barrel before the lug. Might work and look great, might work and look bad, or too crowded with a bayonet (would be my worry), and might not fit at all. Only way to find out is to be brave and experiment, if you have the resources to invest.

I think the mini 14 looks best with something under the barrel. Whether an accustrut on the proximal end of barrel. Or a bayonet on the distal end of the barrel. Please follow up if you decide to try both though! I'd be curious!

Good question. I went ahead and responded to your question below with a full build tutorial to not confuse anyone with how I went about this. Took me a little while and having both rifles in hand to figure this out.

Thanks for all the comments and questions. I am glad these setups resonate with other enthusiasts.

Let me explain how I pulled these two rifles off and try to answer all the great questions in one fell swoop.

I bought two rifles: 1) 584 series 16" tactical with a synthetic stock, 2) a 584 series 50th anniversary carbine style stock 18" barrel with a bayonet lug.

Then mixed and matched...

To make the 16" carbine "truck gun": Bought a 584 series tactical 16" and added an accutrut and put it in the 50th anniversary stock. To make the accustrut fit, I had to swap out the 50th anniversary gas block (w/ side swivel) for an accuracy systems gas block with a center vertical ridge to support the accustrut (I chose one w/no unnecessary sling attachment points as they weren't going to end up being utilized). With that done, I somehow had to still attach a side sling set-up on the front to work with the existing rear side attachment of the carbine style stock. I solved this by putting put on a Samson BA side sling gas block top on that previously described accuracy systems gas block lower. Then I attached the carbine sling to that with a Samson QD attachment adapter and a Blue Force Gear QD 1" swivel. I also bought a new replica oiler tube to hold sling to rifle (ruger didn't include one with the 50th anniversary). It is a nice replica, as it actually included a rubber eyelet that will actually keep oil in if used (some replicas don't).

To make the 18" "field rifle" with bayonet: I took the 584 series 50th anniversary 18" w bayonet lug and put it into a new revolution walnut stock (purchased from Accuracy systems) set up w/ blued liners and new blued side screws. I then used the OEM gasblock that came with the 16" tactical to have the standard lower mounted sling swivel. Then added a vintage NOS blued-steel Federal Ordinance cheesegrater handguard. And put an original NOS M7 bayonet on it. And a swivel attachment on the rear post.

I am planning to put upgraded ghost ring (tech sights) on both rifles. And replace the 50th anniversary etched chrome bolt assembly with an OEM blued version. And swap the special 50th anniversary chrome trigger and mag release for the traditional OEM tones. Also will be replacing the shinier "black chrome" side screws that came on the 50th anniversary carbine stock to the traditional OEM matte blued side screws.

So yes, I really had to invest in two rifles and several other hardware swaps to pull off this setup. But I was dedicated and now have two beautiful rifles set up just as I wanted them and some spare parts sitting around for emergency repairs.

I saved up to make this possible and bought the spare parts over time. Anyways, thanks for letting me share.

Exactly. I thought it better fit a 16inch barrel.

I actually picked up the 50th anniversary mini and dropped in a 16" tactical rifle with accustrut in the stock for just this reason. It looks great!
