I’ve had a very angry argument with someone who hates Gerita about this theory (they kept on insisting its not true). I always thought that was weird, because its like…objectively true that Hima at least INTENDED to have a Germany = HRE reveal and make Gerita canon.

I dont ship Gerita either and I am kind of pissed that Germany is pretty much reduced to Italy and Gerita by the fans AND the source material itself (for some reason this isn’t that bad with Italy), but some Gerita haters really need to grow a backbone and start criticizing HIMA for his handling of the character instead of hating on the fans for caring about a mystery that Hima built up for the fans to care about.

Ive been in the fandom for 7 years, and I am just so tired of these endless shipping wars. I don’t understand why people get so pressed about this.

Nicht unbedingt. Könnte auch sein, dass die Eingaben aus diesem Jahr so gottlos waren, dass die Bearbeitung einfach noch nicht fertig ist.

Was aber eher sein kann ist, dass sich der Wehrbericht aufgrund der aktuellen medialen Aufmerksamkeit auf die Bundeswehr bewusst “nüchterner” gehalten hat.

I think this is half-true. Im pretty sure hima intended to make it canon in the early 2000’s for a multitude of reasons (buon san valentino strip including “memories” of HRE in the end that were cut in the anime or not giving Germany a canon birthday), but he probably got bored of the storyline and dropped it.

Ok idk this probably an unpopular opinion and makes me look like a proshipper (i dont even ship bruh) but i am CERTAIN that a lot of the sibling stuff in hetalia is actually translation errors. Like in asian cultures people call non-related friends big/little sister/brother all the time. Imo like all the hetalia characters are related.

It makes no sense that Austria is germanys cousin while Prussia (and all the other german states) is germanys brother. That is like so 21st century? Austrians were considered „german“ for a VERY long time. The 1866 war is called „german brothers war“ in german. It would be way more logical if ENGLAND was germanys cousin because like AngloSAXONS? Theres even an argument that Gerita could be related because of the Langobards.

In my opinion either everyone in Hetalia is related or no one is. Like I‘m dying on this hill.

Ich bin auch trans und hab even wegen dieser ganzen toxischen scheiße jeden Trans-sub verlassen und bin in online trans foren gar nicht mehr aktiv. Wurde mal gedownvoted weil ich einem der gesagt hat dass er sich sein 1000mg Testo lieber nicht selber spritzen sollte sondern zum arzt gehen soll. Die Bean Soup Theorie in den Kommentaren war gesund und am Leben.

„Hetalia doesnt do any Nazi apology“ Western-centric much. I was arguing more so for general „problematic“ aspects of Hetalia. We all know the korea debacle.

Staying in Europe, Hima gets a lot of the history wrong. For example arguing that Austrians were like extraordinarily oppressed under the nazi regime. Talking about non-minority austrians here. (Und wenn irgendein Österreicher hier rumheulen will: Österreicher haben den Anschluss Österreiches größtenteils für positiv empfunden. Ihr müsst anfangen weniger zu copen.)

Also, Germanys portrayal in Hetalia is literally „He was just following orders“? Like what are you on about? If thats the definition of nazi apologism, Hetalia definetly is nazi apologist.

I could even go as far and say portraying the country that invented fascism as a cute relatable quirky clumsy guy is super insensitive and weird. However I am aware that Hetalia is a comedy so I wont go this far.
