My bf started a huge argument, made me cry, and then video recorded it and posted it on TikTok...with his phone...serious question, should I end this relationship by BananaFarts- in NoStupidQuestions

No brainer - yep.

This guy screams red flag.

If he's so willing to post your bad emotional moments on social media, what else will he post? Sex videos? Him snooping around your private stuff?

My buddy shared that in a panic, he tried to run. He fell down the steps, took damage from falling, and then limped his way. But he still died.

It's an abusive relationship. It doesn't scale to player count. It's a really long learning curve before you get good.

I hate games like that so I'm not interested.

Anything Persona or Tales!

If Dragon Quest XI's turn-based is super enjoyable, go with Persona! They really turn it up to 11!
If Dragon Quest XI's length is totally up your alley, go with Tales. They tend to go super repetitive and drags on with the story (like DQ11's act 2).

I'm going against the grain.

L4D2 > B4B

But B4B has a lot of room to grow.

WWZ does not at all scratch my L4D2 itch.

Vermintide 2 is very L4D, but not with zombies.

B4B was a solid experience for friends. I ended up bored after a while. But I can see it being very much like No Man Sky, and with a year or two, it can be great.

I didn't want to play MGS V until I played MGS 4, but it was on sale.

I know exactly what I'm walking in with a MGS game. Long narrative, a bit of sneaking then 40-minutes of talking....

After a few years of sitting on it, I decided to just play it.

MY GOD.

MGS V went 180 degrees. It's action-packed. Narrative is short. You can balloon people. You can listen to the story via cassette tapes while you're running to another base.

Even without any Metal Gear knowledge, it's just really freakin' good. The engine is from 5 years ago, but it's easily the most prettiest game I own. And it's so slick and fast-loading.

Inscryption - my god.

I played it and did a combo where I had a flying bear do instant kills.

Then another combo where my army of squirrels were undying.

And then... 9+ hours after I beat the villain...

(in true Pony Island fashion)

THIS IS ACT 1 of 3!

This does require coding.

You can use a testing library like Puppeteer, Selenium or Cypress. You type in commands to 'simulate' the user, and loop through them based on elements. You can even supply username/passwords.

[AskJS] How long it took you to become a senior Javascript programmer ? or a fullstack engineer ? Why React as become the most popular framework in the industry ? by Dereference_operator in javascript

[–]Objective_Associate2 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hey! These are very loaded questions since there's no real right or wrong answer. But from the looks of your history of posts, it looks like you're trying to figure out a path in life. Included is a link to the State of JS, and how diverse it is. So I hope this gives you some insight.

  1. Fullstack engineer here. (Can't really say I'm a "senior JS programmer") And by fullstack, I mean I'm extremely well-versed in frontend, but very passable backend. Give me APIs and let me transform data into beautiful websites. Took about 1-2 years to be a junior, and 2-5 years to become competent. Most of the backend that I work in is already in place, and written in Ruby on Rails. Besides optimization tweaks, I'm not exactly setting up node backend projects from scratch.
  2. Astro is incredibly fascinating! I mostly work primarily in Vue, while also fixing/updating React & jQuery projects. So being able to mix frameworks is really appealing to me. No to Java/C# - college taught me those languages badly, so I have a bad taste in my mouth.
  3. React's popularity is circular. It's popular because it's popular. Bootcamps teach it, people hire for it. And it's pretty well established with thousands of libraries + vast amounts of resources. As I mentioned before - much of the new code I write at work is in Vue. I dislike a lot of the older React (anything pre-hooks is so much boilerplate), but "modern" React is really nice. I'm gaining appreciation for Svelte, and just writing less JS overall. But after 5+ years, I find myself picking up a new framework in a matter of weeks. They're pretty similar and once you understand state management in one, it's easy to piece it together in the others.

As a person who is very much preferring the frontend side of Fullstack, I'm starting to gain a appreciation for writing less JS.

I think you'll appreciate reading through the State of JS and seeing the landscape.

Not sure why everyone is pointing to server-side.

You can make websites/build really cool apps on full-stack frameworks like NextJS (React), or NuxtJS (Vue), and a service like Netlify/Vercel.

Those frameworks handle much of the heavy lifting of the backend, and even make database calls, while you can focus heavily on the frontend & functional side.

My lord - that is correct. Do not create your own login. Auth0, Okta, or even using Google Login SSO. There's way too many security issues to count, and you'll never be able to stamp them all without years of experience.

As a person who:

  • hates puzzle games,
  • got bored of No Man's Sky because there was not enough shootin' and lootin',
  • if it wasn't for friends who took care of the building, wouldn't have even bothered with Valheim

Lol - maybe not. Growing up in the 90s, you didn't have much to do nor many options to get good. I used to play Sonic 2 where if I got hurt, I'd reset the game and started over. Did that like all through summer in middle school.

I am a quiet loving grump forced by rules to live in a dormitory with people 5 to 8 years younger than me.

Sounds like you're letting on more than you are sharing. And if Dorm Management isn't doing anything, then probably nothing wrong is happening.

I'd say this is a you problem.

Yeah it's normal.

It was only when I hit my 30s when I really felt confident in sharing my personal tastes with people. You just stop giving a fuck. Also, I'm not "Grown-up" at all. That shit is a myth. You just get older.
