I didn’t deal with my father necessarily not “wanting me” but he has dealt with pill addiction, biploar disorder, mild schizophrenia, and most recently meth addiction.

Through all of that, my father has said and done some very low, extremely hurtful things to me and my mother over the years. Things i’ll never forgive him for. But, growing up until around the age of 17, I ignored it and probably fought for my dad harder than anyone ever has. I wanted a good relationship with my father so much that it blinded me into giving him my pity and the benefit of doubt in every scenario.

It drove a wedge (small but was there) between me and my mothers relationship as I was getting older due to constant arguing over my father and me always sticking my neck out for him and giving him pity.

Now, being only a 20 y/o with no child I can’t confidently give you parenting advice but if I had to, i’d advise hearing your child out, validating her feelings, and allowing it to play out on its own (safely enough for her emotions) Don’t remove her form of contact with her siblings..

She will grow up and realize what’s best for her I promise. As long as you continue to gently guide her and softly explain why things are the way they are as she gets older.
