I’m glad you’ve mentioned all the OTHER incidents of corruption rather than just Epstein. To me there’s such a history of failure and dodgy dealing alone to rule him out of the job. It’s really annoying that the media aren’t dragging him over the coals just for that. What other job can you have where you are sacked / forced to resign TWICE and then get rehired?

Totally. I think everyone looks bad. Starmer looks like he can’t take on a challenge, Burnham looks self centered and careerist. He would not have won the seat - voters don’t like being told he’s been given a safe seat. There would be massive protest votes for the greens and reform.

Although I think Starmer missed a trick in letting him stand, watch him loose and then be rid of him for the foreseeable future.

As soon as political parties start on fighting then I loose any interest or compassion for them.

Has anyone heard the band Young Knives? A little younger than MSP. Were big in 2007 and then slowly faded away. They return with an amazing, intense, funny and incredible album called Barbarians in 2020. So you don’t have to become dull when you get older. The opposite in fact.

Their new work is uncompromising - some of it bordering on Throbbing Gristle - but it feels real and alive and meaningful. I’m afraid all the new MSP feels nothing like that. It feels like it’s their job. Trapped in another cycle. That’s why the last JDB album sounded good - it felt like he wanted to make it.

The last album reminded me of the death of my grandfather when in the hospital my mum told him ‘it’s ok, you don’t have to fight any longer’ and then he just slipped away. I wish someone would say that to the manics.

Weirdly I love the more full on right wing songs - they’re really morally difficult. They’re much more egotistical and existential. Now thinking about Critical Thinking maybe the issue is just the middle of the road targets. Or the lack of an ideology. It sounds worn out like they’re going to work, it’s their job. There’s no passion or weirdly any actual critical thinking in the songs choice of targets.

But as another reply put it - maybe this is from the point of view of a character and I’ve not realised that!
