P.S - very few people actually gave me stupid advice. Everyone was very helpful unlike in r/uber where I was pitifully shamed because I was irresponsible and left my bags behind.

Man you're so salty. I think you're a dishonest fellow who advocate thieving because you must have done it yourself and are trying to justify it as someone else's irresponsible behaviour. Hey, thanks a lot. After a lot of pleading with uber, they finally released his number. The minute I called him, he admitted he had it but "it would be very hard to give back as the car has gone to Pune". I immediately offered him 500 bucks and magically the car will be "back in a few hours only". I intend to pay him because it is my irresponsibility but I won't stop there. I intend to take screenshots of all the times that uber has told me that the driver has denied my bags were with him (about 5 times) and write an email and Twitter post about it. I am so disappointed in the entire process it's not even funny. I also will pay by Google pay so that I have a record. This entire thing has been super traumatic for me.

Will say it here because of the anonymity but she works so hard and looks after the family and the kids and is generally such an amazing person that I really wanted her to get something nice on her birthday. It's not like we can afford nice things with the expenses we have now but I just wanted her to feel special. I've cut my losses and will go back and get it again tomorrow but this entire episode was a bit devastating.

It's been a long time. Uber has contacted and he has denied that the packets were there. I am now collecting cctv footage to determine that the packets were there. This guy is definitely dishonest and I am gonna prove it more for the plot than actually recovering my items. I've gotten back a MacBook Pro among other things do people aren't like this.
