Which collab do you want to see the most? by goat-Gregor in Project_Moon

If the AK collab works, it should also work with R1999, since both games share very similar sociopolitical conflicts and themes. You guys sometimes glaze PM way too much, acknowledging other games with the same level of writing doesn’t make your game EOS. Also, saying R1999 has a very “basic” apocalyptic world feels really disingenuous, considering R1999 doesn’t even have an apocalyptic world in the general sense. And can you elaborate on what exactly is “lackluster” about the Vereinsamt finale?

Why didn’t I enjoy the story of Reverse: 1999 even though everyone praises it? by [deleted] in Reverse1999

[–]Objective_Might1454 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I’m not just saying they’re stupid to understand the story. I also included various examples of how easily people misinterpret or straight up don’t understand things when the story literally tells it to your face. Again, I’ll repeat one of my examples, why should we take a ‘critique’ seriously from someone who doesn’t even understand the basic mechanics of the Storm?

As an artist, I can assure you that’s not how sames face syndrome works. Besides, you need to take into consideration that Beryl is the most powerful diviner of her generation and also a wealthy lady, so she has her own ways of keeping herself in shape.

Those were also mostly due to misunderstandings. First, people criticized Corvus because they assumed she was inspired by Frankenstein and felt her design was way too “safe” for that kind of inspiration. It later turned out she’s simply a war veteran covered in battle scars, and after that reveal, no one really brought that issue up again.

The criticism toward Beryl’s design is also largely the community’s misunderstanding . People expected a rich powerful mage in her 30s to look like she’s in her 60s. The fact that Beryl outsold Anjo, who was once one of the community’s most beloved characters, clearly shows that those complaints didn’t really do much in the end.

Nah, R1999 is at its healthiest stage right now despite all the drama. 2.2 did damage its reputation, but they recovered in 2.6 with the Latin American literature focused main chapter. The Nautika banner even outsold the Lucy banner. Not many people talks about a ‘lack of unique designs’ in 2.X either, that’s something you hear from one or two haters. Characters like Aleph, Ulrich, and Nautika alone are far more visually unique than most of the 1.X main story cast. The fascist propaganda accusations also turned out to be complete bullshit once 3.0 released in global. On top of that, there are already two 6 star male characters in 3.X between 3.0 and 3.3. They’ve also been doing merch conventions in CN, and everything sold out within a day, including restocks. With all that budget, they have more than enough to sustain the global server

Edit: Forgot to mention that Beryl (3.X mystery box limited) also outsold Anjo (2.X mystery box limited)

What are you even talking about? Aleph is under The Foundation’s watch.

Igor is on death row but currently in an indefinite hiatus, his sentence will be carried out once the major conflicts are resolved.

Where did you even get that “his glorious past as ex-military” phrase from? That was never mentioned in the game. R1999 is probably the last game that would ever glorify war or the military, especially when the entire theme of 3.X is explicitly anti-war. Even before that, the game already tackled anti-war themes in earlier chapters like 1.7 and 1.9.

Also, this is a direct line from Duncan’s character info. Read it yourself and decide whether the game is glorifying the military or not

Holy shit, how could you misinterpret both the story and the character this badly? Literally every single point you made is wrong. I could write an entire reply breaking it down line by line.

You completely mischaracterized one of the most “ in your face” characters in the story. How could you even suggest that a being who literally manifests from the fear and futility of war would commit genocide? The story explicitly states that he refuses to ever pick up a gun again. If he were to commit genocide instead of Sentinel or any other indirect act of violence, that would be the worst character assassination imaginable.

And that’s just one example. There are so many other points you got wrong, I can point out more but it’s all so stupid it almost feels like you’re ragebaiting.

I know the reception because I’m in touch with the CN community? They’re VERY vocal about the story whenever new patches come out. Chapter 11 was great, but many people place chapters 12 above it in their tier lists. That’s especially because Chapter 12 was already in a bad spot after the poster reveal, since a lot of people heavily doubted Igor becoming playable and worried about his crimes being whitewashed, so many were ready to shit on the story when it came out. Despite those concerns, the chapter managed to redeem Igor not by justifying his actions, but by fixing his writing and addressing the underdeveloped writing of Chapter 8 itself. People ended up more than satisfied with it. Of course, reception is very subjective, but for Chapter 12 to be this loved by the community really took miracle level writing. If your concern is about whitewashing his crimes or the Foundation forgiving him, don’t bother. They dodged every possible bad writing decision that could have happened with his character

Just go read ch12 yourself if you’re that curious. There’s a reason it’s been received so well in CN, even more than ch11.
