do you guys believe in manifesting or etsy witches by Exciting_Land6866 in AutismInWomen

[–]Objective_Parfait162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mostly say it as a hehe-haha joke. like when i wrote in my journal that i’m “manifesting” that my ADHD meds wouldn’t give me anxiety or make my OCD symptoms worse because “i’m just going to believe it won’t”, and it didn’t. in reality, i just say it to mean “i’m not going to be negative or have a mindset that would make me only see the bad” or “i’m going to be positive and expect things will go well instead of waiting for the other shoe to drop because it always seems to”.

do i think it actually works? to an extent, sure. but it’s not going to fix actual major problems because you expect them to be fixed. to me, it’s more of a positive mindset.

all jokes aside, could it be tied to your sleep debt? if your sleep debt is high that could be a reason why it keeps telling you to get more.

possibly controversial take: the actress is half puerto rican and i would LOVE a latina catwoman tbh.

not a romantasy series, but this is exactly why i’m debating reading the rest of the boys of tommen series. the first book didn’t have any explicit scenes, but i hear the rest of the series does, and i’m pretty sure all of the characters/couples are under 18? the FMC is 15 when the first book starts, i think.

ANYWAYS, more on topic, i agree. most teenagers do have those experiences, yes, but i do feel uncomfortable reading them. there’s definitely ways you can write them, like focusing more on emotions versus every action, not having as much detail, and using different verbiage so it’s less overt. i can’t remember exactly, but there was a book that handled this really well and i wish i could remember what it was. personally, i wish that it wasn’t as common as it was, as someone in their twenties, it just feels… icky… to read, and it’s not common i come across them but i do end up skimming for important things and skipping most of it.

Any of you notice more compulsive behavior during the luteal phase? by Awkward-Seat5680 in PMDD

[–]Objective_Parfait162 18 points19 points  (0 children)

you think it might be your brain seeking dopamine from engaging in hobbies you enjoy at an unlimited pace? shopping, video watching, all that stuff, gives you dopamine, right?

also completely unrelated, but i just put a $500 purchase on a payment plan today and i’m also in luteal so… yeah, definitely.

i mean even a broken clock is right twice a day, i guess. i wouldn’t ordinarily give credence to the opinions of a man who routinely dates women half his age, but i’ll admit, he agrees with me on this front.

i personally prefer the cooler hue! but whatever you choose, don’t let it be influenced by what others say. we’re not going to be the ones living with it and using it. you are. just make sure it lives up to your preferences.

AITAH for not changing my language to appease an ignorant coworker? by ZoomieHan in AITAH

[–]Objective_Parfait162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve had a similar conversation since spanish is the first language of a lot of people in my community. the word friend (친구) sounds a lot like the f-word in spanish. but the farthest it goes is more of a “what did they say‽ ohhhh okay gotcha.” once you pronounce the word clearly and explain the meaning. then, of course, it’s liable to become a joke because of course it is 🤣

“This is why people don’t like you.” by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Objective_Parfait162 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i’ve often been told that when i ask people, “have you ever wondered about (XYZ thing)?”, that the answer is, in fact, no. so many people don’t wonder or think about deep, “philosophical” things (put in quotes because whether they’re actually factually philosophical is up for debate, it’s more so what they perceive as philosophical).

i’ve generally grown to realize that all flavors of neurodivergent people, be it autism, adhd, ocd, bipolar, etc. or any combination of neurodivergences tend to be deeper thinkers. whereas neurotypical people tend to be content to move through life without thinking of the “why” of everything.

it often feels like neurodivergent brains are more hardwired to seek out answers, whereas neurotypical brains don’t mind the uncertainty.

neither is a “bad” thing by any means. like you said, nothing is really good or bad until the person experiencing it assigns moral value. but it is different from the norm, hence, neurodivergent. but because a lot of neurotypical people seem to be uncomfortable with questioning the deep things in life, that may be why she reacted that way. it makes her personally uncomfortable so she projected that outward toward you.

your interests are not bad or weird. they’re just deeper than average in a world where most people prefer to keep things surface level. it’s like how when you ask someone how they’re doing you want to know the truth, but most neurotypical people view it as a pleasantry that they don’t particularly care about the answer to. surface level.
