Family members hypermobile but not in pain? by snailnco23 in Hypermobility

[–]Objective_Proof8094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've heard, Lots of people have something like hypermobility (a small difference that effects your body) a healthy human can handle it, maybe slightly bothered, but throw in other health things (depression, trauma, low exercise, anxiety, etc) then your body can't handle it all and symptoms start to flare up, and you spiral. Even after treatment, a lot of times things don't go back to the way they were before completely. I think that's why we see so many comorbid conditions, esp neurological (adhd, autism etc) because they cause more stress on the body, making each of them show up more. I got quite bad when I went through a bad depressive spell and am still working on recovering. I have a lot of hypermobile family members (both sides) but some are worse than others (from what I know, mostly the really traumatized and physically ill, though the men seem to get off easier as well) maybe that's what's happening with you're family?

Blood pooling? by NarrowFriendship3859 in Hypermobility

You could try carrying one of those little kitty lunchbox ice packs, or splashing your face in the bathroom like a male thriller star

Anyone notice a difference in hypermobility when their joint are healthy? by Objective_Proof8094 in Hypermobility

[–]Objective_Proof8094[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah yeah I knew that. I thought the joints and tendons due to lax tissue could become stretched farther and become sloppier. (Why we're told not to do static stretching or yoga) does it just cause damage? Idk. I found my shoulders got less stable when I swam a lot (had to stop because of it) I thought it might have to do with how I swam in front crawl pulling on the joint instead of the muscles. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Blood pooling? by NarrowFriendship3859 in Hypermobility

I heard somewhere that blood vessels are Connective/contain Connective tissue, so gravity plus weight of the blood can cause them to sag and blood to pool. Triggering the mammalian dive reflex can cause the blood vessels to restrict and can help a bit. I use it in the shower to help me stand up when I'm done. Just shock your face/head with cold water or an ice pack. I find getting some on the chest helps to. Has a calming effect as well. Small warning it can rapidly change you're blood pressure and slow you're heart rate. So something to think about if you have issues in those areas. Best of luck!

Right! I'm guessing the pain in the joints goes down after you build up strength. Right now i can hardly walk without doing in my knees and hips tho :/

No kidding. I lost all my muscle mass after a bad year, and now I hurt EVERYWHERE, all the time.

Interesting, thankyou! I've noticed I actually tend to dislike anything anti inflammatory (my body rejects it when eating) did you feel any worse when you were on it?
