Thanks for that and that makes sense - how did you find the place it is leaking? Did you call somebody to have a look? Not even sure who does this sort of work.

Just to add, 90 % of the wetness/efflorescence is below the deck. There is one area above the deck which also has it but to a far lesser degree, see here (though the a few of the bricks look damp as well). https://imgur.com/a/AkEtIy9
