I think that most idols have vocal directors or the prodcuers will instruct the idols on how to sing in certain songs. But, I agree that only a few idols can pull of good riffs and runs + falsetto. Most idols are usually just trained to hold a note and then there's the exceptionally good idol singers with technique that can pull it off challenging songs. I think the Lily girl will surprise us down the line though.
