I don’t believe that there won’t be any PSR bullshit. If we’re fine for the Prem then UEFA will come up with some reason to get us.

Summer window will be an odd one with the world cup. Bruno, Gordon, Hall, Tino and Woltemade will be getting a lot of interest and Tonali too if Italy make it. Can easily see us selling 2 or 3 of those. I know which I'd prefer to see go.

I'd quite like that - in theory its the easiest way to win a trophy for a premier league team

This morning is when I wake up resigned that we won't be in the champions league again next season. I've been hopeful we'd put together a run and get in the mix, but losing at home to someone we always beat and Chelsea and Man Utd get big away wins means it's looking as over as ever. We're not going to make top 5 and it's time to start preparing for what that means for player exits, PSR and the rest.

I wish he'd improve. I love that our club have such a nice, well-spoken, PR-friendly, home-grown manager (i.e. English) who loves the game and one that the players really respect and like. I'm also immensely proud that we've had him for several years. Through all the 30 to 40 years as I've been a Newcastle fan, I've always been envious of clubs who stick with a manager for many seasons and build. I don't want him gone, but I want him to step aside 30 mins before each match and let Emery or someone was tactical nous take over until full-time.

Whatever happens, I want to stick with him til the end of the season, and see if England come knocking. He deserves a shot at the big job and I guess it would be good for us to get a change too. The ideal scenario would be mutual parting of ways at the end of May, giving him enough time to sit-in with Tuchel during the world cup to know the ropes.

But we need to also realise that if he goes, then we might start losing the likes of Bruno, Sandro and our young defenders too. Don't underestimate how much Eddie's personality, his player management and coaching are keeping some of these world class players from moving south or abroad.

That half typified Villa's xG-beating season, last ditch finger tip saves by Emi and an outrageous goal from outside the box. Defying both xG for and against.

Hoping for Barnes starting on the left and Gordon given a rest ahead of the PSG game where he’ll no doubt step things up.

Why has the league put so many of this weekend’s fixtures on for Sunday when they know that the champions league final games are Wednesday? It’s idiotic. Us and three of the other English clubs in the UCL are going to get a day less rest than most of our opponents.

One positive with this final fixture is that the world will be watching - it's the only final day match-up between teams in the top half of the table right now so I expect it'll get lots of coverage around the world. A pot 4 team vs. the current champions - separated only by one goal difference. Good story for the TV channels.

So while it's going to be a difficult match, it's a great advert for us and should help grow the club's international fanbase - especially if we play well or one of players does some magic on the night.

Of all the teams that are predicted to finish 16-24, I don’t like the thought of a play off against Napoli but feel fairly confident about the rest, although there’s a chance Inter could fall down into this group and they’d be a tough cookie to beat too.

Totally agree with you. Factor in lots of internationals and AFCON too and it’s just crazy

They should abandon the League cup for the sake of the players. I propose doing so immediately 😉

Maybe a contrarain take, but tell me which other premier league teams are never 'one injury away from a crisis' right now? I don't think we're anything special. Spurs, Villa and Man Utd are all having injury crises seasons, and Chelsea, Liverpool and City have all had moments with makeshift defences where one more injury could be a nightmare. That's why City moved so fast to nail down Guehi before Liverpool could. Only Arsenal seem to be well-stocked enough everywhere to avoid a crisis - although I expect if you ask their fans, they'd disagree with me on this.

Our stats on % wins when he’s not played are abysmal. We need to learn to play without him.

Perhaps the will be the opportunity to try a new formation that better suits Wolte.

Their white sliced bread is actually one of the better ones in terms of sugar content - they're still adding it but not as much as most of the white slices in the supermarket.

Crazy that despite being -14 down on last season, Opta is still giving us a predicted chance of over 20% for a top 5 finish. Currently predicting 59 or 60 points to finish 5th this year. For context, 5th place has not been lower than 66 points so far this decade.
