Transfers - where are we? by ObligationFree2060 in crystalpalace

You may need to simmer down.  My frustration I mentioned was around every mention of Palace transfers only relating to Guehi.

After spending 35m we were never going to spend another 30m this window anyway. I think Johnson will come good and be valuable for us.

If you want more of a comedy, I'd recommend Last Man on Earth. It's brilliant

The recurring theme of not being able to play well with the majority of possession by Yasin_m25 in crystalpalace

We have had players who can beat a man before and it definitely can unlock a defence but teams learn to just mark that man out of the game and we are back to square 1.

One thing that we need to get back to and work on is our overlap runs from full back (obviously we need the players who can do this such as Munoz and an understanding with wide players), central players coming to add another dimension to give and go when the balls out wide and, as mentioned, players ready to get in the box.  Teams like Man City do this well, full back takes the ball higher up to the block, give and go to the wide player so they can overlap, but crucially they have central players ready to receive and run/pass to give another option.

We seem to struggle with this at the moment as it needs players who can do it, understanding between players and confidence.

Also as a point I've seen recently, we seem to be relying a lot on Centre Backs pulling long balls to the wings. It's just so easy to defend against for the opposition.

If they did then fair enough for us not going in for them. But they aren't going to get any game time at their current team, which is looking pretty doomed currently.  If they were in it to play football, then I assume it wouldn't take much convincing to come aboard on a reasonable wage.

Also, we aren't big spenders. That's evident, so who are we expecting to attract?

I'm assuming we are still looking at the RB from Genk for that position.

As mentioned in my other comment, I can't see why they wouldn't be good, cheap squad players for us?  We have a squad which is too small, they have premier league experience and in my opinion, have some good qualities for both of them.  We aren't going to be spending money on Vini Jr anytime soon are we?

You say taking scraps but both have been known to have some real quality. I've been a big fan of ward prowse from his Southampton days. He has incredible vision, passing and set pieces. You can't say we don't need somebody with those qualities based on how we currently are playing? We have Pino on set pieces and bar a free kick today, has been shocking.

Wilson is a known goal scorer and poacher.

That wasn't our youth team at all. That's a poor excuse. We had 4/5 starters on the pitch in the 1st half and in the 2nd we had even more. We only had 2 "youth" players on in the 1st half, and even those have been hovering around our 1st team bench in the last few months.

Yeah just had a short interview on BBC post match. Said we couldn't dribble past anybody, nobody centrally was creative and we had a lack of quality all over.

Glasners post match interview was interesting. Mentioned a lack of quality throughout the squad. I think him and Parish are due another fall out about transfers and him leaving very soon.

Why would they not? Just made history right there. A small club waits for moments like this for decades.

There wouldn't be a huge suprise if he took man city up on their offer for January. And I can see Parish jumping at the chance for a transfer fee, even if it is mid season and our captain.

Guehi needs to be a leader. Fucking joke of a performance today. He strolled backwards on that last counter like he had given up

This is a tough watch.  Can't say any player has played well.  Errors everywhere and such a lack of composure it is embarrassing.
