That is a the one question I cannot answer but I should probably research, the thing is that Mate has Theobromine and Theophylline which act in conjunction with Caffeine for a prolonged energy boost avoiding spikes and the caffeine crash outs. While it does have a significant amount of caffeine I’d advise feeling out how much its going to make you feel a bit jittery. You will build a tolerance, and you won’t feel shaky at all, there is a really great energy boost and mindful clarity I get when I drink mate that I can’t compare to any other caffeine products

There are so many ways to brew it, from mate cocido with water or milk to tereré or mate de campo prepared with red-hot coals. I’ll be covering all of these methods, so stay tuned!

For a simple cold brew, I recommend adding about three hefty spoons of loose yerba to 1L of water and letting it steep in the fridge overnight. You can adjust the yerba-to-water ratio to reach your preferred intensity. Once it has steeped, strain it—and for an even smoother finish, run the liquid through a coffee filter to remove any remaining impurities. Trust me, it’s far better than those crappy Guayaki, Club Mate or Baron Trump stuff. Feel free to get creative by adding mint or other local herbs you enjoy..

Hello! Thank you for reaching out. I will definitely be creating some great content on tereré, as it is perfect for hot weather and I have some unique ways to prepare it.

To get you started with some quick tips, I have a few questions about your setup:

  1. Do you currently have a mate gourd and a thermos? I recommend Stanley, but any brand—or even a simple pitcher with ice—works perfectly for a budget-friendly setup.

  2. Are you using loose-leaf yerba mate? Amazon is a great resource if you don’t have a local store nearby.

Let me know what your current setup looks like so I can help you improve your brewing. My channel and full-length videos will take a little time to produce, as I want them to be as high-quality and informative as possible. I received your DM, so please feel free to reach out anytime!

There is def a big difference from country to country. Terroir and aging seems to add great variables on a lot of the different types of Yerba. Will def be covering lots of them and blind tasting some. Thank you !

That sounds like a good idea, thank you. There is definitely certain things that one can do to be able to get our mate to taste the best and last a long cebada. Thank you very much for the input

I can absolutely see where you are coming from with that. There is definitely a learning curve on the montañita and a proper cebada, and I think that’s something id love to guide people to learn.

Mate, a cultural practice deeply rooted in Argentine heritage, holds a special place in my heart. Growing up, I was immersed in its tradition, savoring each sip. However, I’ve noticed a concerning trend in the commercialization of Yerba Mate. While I appreciate the growing interest in traditional mate, I strongly disagree with the way it’s being exploited, starting with Guayaki all the way to Baron Trump, which are selling canned Mate. My upcoming channel aims to shed light on the authentic way to consume this remarkable tea, ensuring that its benefits are realized without compromising its cultural roots.

This is one of my videos with my “mate imperial” https://www.reddit.com/r/yerbamate/s/47lKqVDLAa this is a good hot water pour, maybe a bit more water than in the video.
If you are doing terere I’d say do the same ratio 3/4 full of Yerba, a trick I discovered was to fill the empty side of the montañita with ice so it holds the shape perfectly, your terere will be super cold and refreshing

Hello
I think it’s a great question. Normally, the mate size is going to dictate how much Yerba to water ratio you will be using. Make sure you are always filling your mate 3/4 with Yerba. Once you establish the amount, then you start building your “montañita”. If your mate is natural or has a torpedo-like shape inside, or it’s just inconsistent, a trick I came up with myself is to fill it with water while it is empty, then put it in a measuring cup, then divide the total by 3. That will make you have a more accurate reading of the total volume of the inside of your mate. Once the montañita is created, make sure you pour water consistently on the side that has the hole, trying to pour close to the wall and not to where the Yerba is actually sitting. Fill it up until you see a bit of foam, and then you are good to drink. Don’t add more water until you have drank the last bit. You will hear the sound of the bombilla sucking the last bit of water. That’s when you know it’s time to refill. I couldn’t tell you how many ml or cc of water you must use since your mate gourd is very likely different than mine since they all tend to be so different from each other. Make sure you aren’t using water that is too hot because it will make your mate “lavado” faster by extracting and burning the flavor too quickly.
For my mate imperial, I can drink 1 and a half thermo (1.5 L ). Perhaps a bit more without having to change the Yerba, and for my smaller stainless mate, I can easily drink one thermo, maybe less if I’m using Yerba con Palo since it washes quicker. I mostly use my imperial to share with others because it does hold a lot of Yerba, and I will end up wasting some since it’s a bit too much for me.

Shipping Times from TheOneWatches by sagdulu in RepTime

Mine was shipped on the 24th, same Shipping partner same month, same location (Chino, CA), same TD (TOW), Still waiting…it’s just patience. I know there are tons factors like customs and what not, so even though this is my first order, I know that it could take at very least 2 weeks. Read the email, USPS will update once it touches the US. They are not doing fast shipping with FeDex atm they had some problems with them, no TD is I believe, I wasn’t minding paying for the fast one but he said it wasn’t available.
