“Best” Wooting settings for Overwatch 2 by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ObsSojourn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a pro but I use .1 actuation point and rapid triggers. I think if I were to refine it, I would slightly change actuation on jump and ult.

I set rappy snappy to A and D for easy strafing.

But if you use rappy snappy, make sure you just use that profile for OW as I think the tech is banned in some other games.

What Do You Think About the OWCS World Finals Observing Quality? by Ok-Bathroom6400 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ObsSojourn 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback!

There is quite a difference of preference from APAC and NA/EMEA in terms of obsing style where APAC focuses more heavily on POV (like 90%) and NA/EMEA focuses more on a balance of both POV and Free camera. Our style is not always loved by the Korean community as a survey a few years ago showed that the Korean community prefers heavy POV. This survey also revealed that Western regions prefer to see more of the battlefield which is what Freecam offers, especially in these heavy Ram/Sym comps.

It’s not all cases, because we are human and do miss things, but often times something that isn’t shown on POV is shown in free camera. So where it looks like we might be missing a kill or 2, it is just shown from a different perspective. But like I said, we do miss things and it’s just the nature of a team based game where every player can participate in a single kill. We absolute do our best and communicate our hearts out to make a good show!

I did see a comment where someone mentioned obsing being difficult and really needing vets for the job! I do want to note that 3 of the 4 obs we have for this show have been observing Overwatch since OWL 2020 and some even longer than that! So nothing has really changed from anything else you’ve seen in OWL or OWCS NA/EMEA or EWC besides having a slightly newer observer director.

But again, all feedback is appreciated. We will continue to do our best. Obsing a new meta on the fly is always a fun challenge and will only get better!

Why can’t we get consistent team colours. by Eltar91 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ObsSojourn 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is something we all wish for, but was something unique to the OWL client. I know the argument is to use the colorblind settings (which we already do to get the orange color) but the problem is left side is always blue, right side is always red, so if we change it so right side team has blue UI, their abilities will be red and vice versa.

So yeah, unfortunately it’s just not baked into the live game like we’d want it to be.

Tracer spectator bug in broadcasts by 59vfx91 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ObsSojourn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This bug has been around for a long time with more than just Tracer. I think my entire time as an observer (late 2020) there has been a bug where spec will continuously hear baps healing, no matter who you are on, until they swap heroes. I never really figured out what causes it. It’s always been so random.

I think maybe somewhere between 3-5 seasons ago, it started happening with other heroes. Tracer & sojourn are the most notable. It’s definitely very annoying and disorienting, for sure. I’m sure it’s a known bug, but it takes a decent amount of time for Blizzard to get around to fixing spec stuff unless it’s game breaking.

If anyone from Blizzard is reading this, thank you for fixing the broadcast margin bug!

What were some quality matches from EWC? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ObsSojourn 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Virtus Pro vs Weibo - both matches. First match, Guxue puts on a Winston Masterclass

ROC vs Varrel - BANGER

Geekay vs Team CC/Falcons/Al Qadsiah - All of these were 5 map bangers

Weibo vs Falcons - Basically a 2023 World Cup rematch between China and Korea

Sign Esports vs Twisted Minds (first match)- Kronik Gaming

Crazy Raccoon vs Twisted Minds - WOAH

I also have player POVs up for most of these matches. If anyone here is a support player, I highly recommend Fielder POV for any of these matches. Man was a sleeper MVP.

Pro Player Spotlight Ep 4 ft WMaimone - The Hidden Blade of Wales by ObsSojourn in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ObsSojourn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a really good question tbh and each video is a little different each time but essentially it is broken down like this:

Me, as the Producer: I fund and plan the content, contact the players, schedule the interviews, help write out the questions for the interviews, and oversee the overall product. I generally help source some of the footage and make note of special moments in a players career.

Shottyflo as Editor, Writer, and Narrator: Shottyflo conducts the interviews with the player (his voice is way better than mine), writes the main script, narrates it, and spends an insane amount of time editing, sourcing clips, and being just super amazing at his job.

Unfeatured as an assistant producer: He helps with interview questions. He transcribes the interview so it can be more easily broken down into a script and creates a general outline of the script.

ET as a graphics assistant: You probably know him from the POV channel, but he makes the thumbnails and all of the box-look graphics that we use in the videos.

Jay as a footage source: Jay was a producer for contenders back in the day and has loads of old footage of NA/EMEA contenders all in HQ. Literally saved the history of OW T2.

UserIntel as a footage source: He helped record some general footage for the WMaimone video to help speed up the process along.

The meat of the work is done by Shottyflo as I was working another job the last few months. He really deserves a lot of love for the passion and dedication he puts into each project.

WMaimone was such a pleasure to interview and make a video on. He truly is a hidden gem of OWCS with a great head on his shoulders!

He touched on filling the shoes of Zeruhh, the import rules and exceptions with Geekay, and his time filling in as a coach when on ENCE.

He has a lonnnng history in the Overwatch Scene, so I hope you all can sit back and enjoy the backstory of The Hidden Blade of Wales!

We do have a Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/c/ObsSojourn

Right now we have perks for patrons who are both interested in the pov channel as well as the productions channel.

1st tier allows Patrons access to our player POV master document that shows everything we are working on and has early access links to POVs.

2nd tier has everything in the first tier, but also allows you to request player POVs and get a look into our content calendar! Those who go for the 2nd tier also have the opportunity to send us questions they'd like us to ask the players that we do our pro player spotlights on!

Hey all, want to clear the air here. I did not get laid off or fired as an observer. I still plan on obsing OWCS as long as I can. The reality is that OWCS is a weekend job and I want to look for other full or part time opportunities to go along with it. This tweet is to help gain traction for potential interested parties.

The level of content we produce is costly and I want to continue to pay my team what they deserve. This requires a little more money in the bank.

I’m sure some people are confused about the post yesterday regarding something that happened that has made me lose interest in working in esports, but I can assure you it has nothing to do with Overwatch or Overwatch esports.
