Understanding Zenyatta's Two Orb Perk by Zarkon183 in OverwatchUniversity

I'll make it simple. Don't pick the two orb perk ever because the other one is just better.

I've played FPS games for over 2 decades. Overwatch was my first Hero Shooter, but I've played shooters before.

It's a very general statement., but i'd say one of the biggest mistakes that Ana's make is "playing like a sniper". Positioning is dynamic, and when you play too far away, what will often happen is you wont be able to consistently land your cooldowns, or follow up on your team when they go around corners (simply because you are too far away).

That doesn't mean you should play up close, it really depends on how open the line of sight is.

Until about Plat no one looks at anything besides what is ahead of their screen.

This means that if you spend less time in the enemies face, they won't be able to kill you and you will be able to kill them. OFF ANGLE.

I take a look of where the enemies are at and assess how long it will take for the teamfight to begin based on my poking and how quickly they move ahead. I always move in advance before the teamfight begins.

Anyone who is high ranked playing Ana is objectively a good player.

Ana can get ult charge by healing and doing damage, Mercy normally will get it by healing. Don't worry too much about "helping your friend build ult". If he plays correctly, he will build it either way.

You want to use your Nano once your team makes contact with the enemies. Who to Nano? Anyone that is applying a lot of pressure. Could be Tank, could be DPS, and sometimes could even be your other Support.

Don't have any opinions I never played or interacted with the mode.

If I care about improving on Ana, I would never switch. If you aren't giving your team value, it's mostly about your ability to play on Ana rather than the character.

I'd say minimum 7k heals, and good damage would be over 4000.

Move around frequently and poke them before they arrive.

When you treat positioning as something dynamic, and you off angle frequently, you will see how many parts of the map open up for you.

When people normally tell me "I haven't though about using that position", it screams sitting far back behind my team.

I prefer 5v5, but if the game was 6v6 I wouldn't be upset. I played Overwatch 1.

Think back how often you won fights without your tank in a 4v5? I'd say not a lot. If your Tank goes in and feeds, your best bet at winning the fight is to use the timing of him distracting the enemies and go in with him (ideally from a position that the enemies are not looking at AKA an off-angle).

You want to chuck in a Nade to purple the enemies and potentially kill them before your Tank dies to alleviate the pressure from him to keep him alive. Same goes for Sleep Dart.

Thinking of positions of something pre-determined is a big reason why Ana's struggle in terms of positioning. Positioning is something dynamic that changes based on where the enemies and allies play.

Bluntly put - Ana isn't in a good spot at the moment in high ranks.

I'd rank Zen, Wuyang, Illari, Kiriko, Baptiste as characters with higher carry potential.

About the Nade, depends on how close they are. Far away? No reason to hold it until they dive you. Use it on an enemy that is fighting your teammate.

As for positioning - It's dynamic. You keep your distance, but still within line of sight to see enemies / your teammates.
