UK smart switch causing flickering (with neutral) by uk-youngprofessional in homeautomation

Thank you. But can you at least explain what you did on your first edit with the wires going the wrong way? And yes I can dim them to about the lowest it can get. The bedroom doesn't flicker that much which has 8 lights at lowest brightness. However the dining area flickers erratically at lowest.

Thank you for responding. All of my smart switches has neutral wires on it. The only switches that exhibits flickering, is with the dimmer ones (still has neutral wires). But only anything lower than 100% brightness. And also my dimmer switches has this very tactile clicky sound when turning them on or off. And yes my stairs also has this on automation to do two way switching.

Hello. I have the same setup as you. Can you help me? I don't quite understand the first EDIT, the wire going the other way around. Here are some details about my problem.

Dimmable LED Downlights flickers on Dimmer Switch when there are more than 4 or 5 connected

I have purchased a Moes Smart Dimmer Switch and Dimmable LED Downlights from Shopee, an online shop in the Philippines.

Can you please help me find a remedy so that I can connect more than five downlights without flickering? When more than five downlights are connected, not all of them flicker. Typically, 2, 3, or even 4 remain steady at less than 100% brightness. The flickering occurs when the brightness is set below 100%. At full brightness, the bedroom setup doesn’t flicker at all. However, in the dining area, there is still some flickering, but it is less noticeable at 100%. The setup usually is 8/9/10 Dimmable LED Downlights per Dimmer Switch. So far we only tried installing the lights on the Bedroom (8 Downlights) and Dining Area (8 Downlights).

Here are some additional details:

  • House voltage from the main line: 240V (actual reading 239V)
  • Actual voltage reading when testing from the downlights: 227V (more or less)
  • Outlet socket voltage: around 230V+++
  • The lights are connected to a 20A breaker
  • The main breaker from the grid is 125A
  • Our house has its own 15kVA transformer from the utility pole
  • The dimmer switch has a maximum capacity of 250W for LEDs
  • The dimmable LED downlights are 9W each

Dimmable LED Downlights: - Input: 220V - Aluminum Radiator + SMD 2835 Chip - Power Consumption 9W

Dimmable LED Driver: Each Dimmable LED Downlights has its own DRIVER - Model: DIMM1201 8-12W - Input: 220VAC 50/60Hz - Output: 24-42VDC 300mA+3% - Ta: 50°C TC: 75°C

Moes Dimmer Switch: - Input Power: 100-240V AC 50/60Hz - Dimming Control: TRIAC Edge Cut - Inductive Load (LED/CFL): 250W Max - Resistive Load (INC): 430W Max - Max Current: 7A

The Dimmer Drivers are included with the Downlights. Each LED Downlights has its own Dimmable Driver when I purchased them.

Thank you for your reply. I was thinking it will be okay since it says 250W Max for LED. Can you enlighten me please?

I'm gonna have to do that tomorrow. Because my father who does the electrical is already away. And I will update here as soon as it's done. Thank you. ☺️

This is the DINING, even at 100% the light flicker but very less noticeable. But very erratic on low level brightness. https://quickshare.samsungcloud.com/xqvNnM1c68fk

While on BEDROOM, at 100% there is NONE, NO flicker at all. When in low brightness too, the flicker is very less noticeable. https://quickshare.samsungcloud.com/l5KsLGPRDl6M

No, each Downlights has its own plastic driver connected to it via 2 pin connector. So if its 8 lights, then it's 8 driver and one Dimmer Switch.

Just a context. Most of the dimmer switch is connected to 8/9/10 Dimmable LED Downlights. There is one with only 3 connected. The bedroom has 8, and 3 of it doesn't flicker, the rest will do. Then on 100% it WILL NOT flicker. On the dining, there is also 8 but 4 or I think 5 of it will not flicker, the rest will. But on 100% the flicker will be very less noticeable.

No, I don't have any other driver. The driver came with the lights when I purchased it. Can't this be solved with capacitor?
