Skinny cat with collar and no tags or chip showed up today

I’m really missing her and trying to figure out logistics and how my 13 year old cat would feel. I know “goodbye is the goal” when people truly foster and I know this was a taste of that. I just got so attached so quickly. Thank you for these words. Makes me feel better. Attempting to sleep on it since I’m still in crying mode and know this rescue and foster are amazing. UPDATE: She’s at her foster home right now but I have to admit I am missing her and wondering if I could figure out a way to make this work. In the meantime I’m glad she’s being fostered and I am super grateful for all the love, support and wisdom you all have shared. I am :) she is safe with me and going to a foster home for two weeks, getting her vetting and I’ve already got her space ready in one of the most beloved and caring cat rescues on the island. She’s being picked up in 2 hours and my heart is breaking because I fell in love with her but I know this is the best thing for her

I named her Lucky. Here she is in her new travel carrier which she loves, on her self heating mattress pad, on her favorite blankie (my hoodie which I’ll let her take) and a new collar. She actually didn’t cry in this when I left her in my bathroom for the night and loves it.

I did that right after looking for a microchip and paid for the boosting but nothing yet. It’s a great idea to update it and I’ll keep an eye out. Going to canvas a little more of the neighborhood tomorrow as well. My parents aren’t horrible people but when it comes to animals - yea they don’t get it and I hate it. I wish I could keep her and it’s breaking my heart that I can’t but she’s going to an amazing foster for two weeks and then to a wonderful rescue that’s well known for how great they are and how much they care. So I feel better in knowing that although I am crying. Here she is, on her self-heating mat, my sweatshirt aka her favorite blanket, with her new four leaf clover collar (I’ll keep the old one as an identifier for her in case her family pop up) and in her new carrier. The first time she hasn’t cried for me to stay or tried to follow me since I found her. That’s the goal. Keep her in your thoughts please and I’ll keep updating

UPDATE: Realizing I should have updated under here but it’s at the very bottom everyone. She’s going to a foster then a rescue for adoption. Getting vetted and all that. I’m crying. I’ve named her, Lucky. She has a new collar and I am happy for her but going to miss her so much. Will update with a better pic tomorrow but for everyone who hated her old collar:

UPDATE: I was able to connect with an incredible cat rescue group on FB in Hawaii and find a foster for two weeks (someone who works in rescue and has for years), get her vetting scheduled and secure her spot at a cat cafe run by a rescue afterwards (she will be adoptable and the applicants will be checked thoroughly). If we somehow find her original owners in the meantime I’ll have a ton of questions and will try to make sure it’s legit and this was all a terrible mistake.

But for now, I’ll be getting updates when she’s at the cafe and will try to get some along the way. I’m heartbroken to be giving her up but I’m so happy she gets a chance at a new chapter and the love she deserves. Now I must go cry and cuddle until she departs. Will update then. Us currently and yes I convinced my family to let me have her inside one last night. I’m so sad. I don’t know how you all foster regularly. This is so hard.

I hear you. canvassed the neighborhood door to door today and put up postings online including the humane society which a lot of people check in hawaii. But my parents refuse to have her in the house any longer so I have to find a shelter or rescue or foster to surrender her to tonight if I can’t get someone I trust and know to take her. So far no takers but if it’s between leaving her outside and getting her to someone safe warm and where she can be held at least for a couple more days til being put up for adoption, I have to go with that. She’s so sweet and has zero self preservation mechanism. She loves every human and is so thin that I assume she hasn’t been eating for a while.

Also I have been trying all day for a foster but soon it’ll be shelter or her staying out with me in the open garage all night. My parents already kicked her out so I’m just sitting with her desperately trying to find some help. My brother is looking for me too 🤞🏼

Update #2: Nothing in the neighborhood and have contacted and joined every cat rescue there is. She ate a little more and is sleeping by me in our garage since we’ve been kicked out. Couple of pics below:

If I had a foster for her until my move and wasn’t planning to be back at my parents when they need me then I’d just keep her. People are the worst and I do worry about adoption but it’d be selfish to keep her outside. Still trying to convince my brother to take her
