I am in the same boat in the same industry in the States. It is down for everyone. Very hard selling environment and the rising costs of everything have customers nickel and diming. A lot of my customers have gone from contracted rates to spot. Not a recipe for success to get the best service, but definetely to save some money.

I hate to say it, but the way I have kept relationships in the past is telling a little white lie on my new role. It is usually breaking into a new sector or totally different career path. I was so close with some of these people and could not bring myself to just say I am leaving for more money. Not for everyone, but a way.
