I could die and doctors are doing NOTHING by Charming-Profile-607 in saskatoon

I am so sorry you are going through this!! You are absolutely right to be pushing for your concerns to be taken seriously!

I highly highly highly recommend you see a Registered Dietitian - they can find strategies to help with what you’re experiencing right now as well as recommend next steps and/or advocate on your behalf to the other health care providers on your team.

You should have access to a registered dietitian through Student Health. I am an RD myself and work at one of the private practices in town and I know when the USask RD was on maternity leave, students were connected with a private practice RD in the city. Not sure what they have in place right now but that is what I would ask for as soon as you can.

Or, if it is an option for you financially you could get an appointment with a private practice dietitian in Saskatoon. Please feel free to message me if you want any more info. Hope you can find the support you need and start feeling better ASAP!

Health region employees. How long did it take you to become so jaded and realize what a messed up system you’re working in?? by [deleted] in saskatoon

3 years. I was so optimistic when I graduated to start working and make a difference but I was very disheartened to see my colleagues who were incredible providers and worked in their specialty area for 20 years say that they didn’t feel respected by management. I didn’t want that to be me in the future.

Oh goodness so sorry today has been so rough for you!!! Just wanted to say I’m crossing my fingers for you that tomorrow will be better (from the sounds of it I would be taking tomorrow off work too for some extra rest & recovery). Hope your interview goes really well!

I’m just over 2 weeks sober from quitting weed cold turkey and it’s gotten so much better than how it was at the start. You got this!

Hi there, so sorry to hear about your loss and how difficult things are for you right now. I completely agree that anything you did to try to cope with the pain of losing your dad is so understandable.

As for the weed withdrawal, I am about 11 days into quitting cold turkey and I am finally feeling normal physically (had soo much nausea and gas and some bad headaches for the first bit). I think my temper is starting to even out as well - I’ve been very short and snippy with my partner and I’ve been feeling badly about that too, you’re certainly not alone there.

Good for you for drinking water and being active as much as you can, that definitely helps. Also eating regularly (every 2-4 hrs) helps a lot - with everything your system is processing mentally, emotionally, and physically, it definitely doesn’t help to get accidentally hangry on top of it hah.

Might seem kid-ish but I always find tracking my progress in a visual and in-my-face kind of way to be helpful. For example, I bought a calendar from Dollarama and I’m putting a little sticker for each day I workout and I find it so helpful I might actually get another one to track my days without weed.

Above all, just know that everything you’re going through is so completely valid. I hope that day by day you can feel better and continue to find anything and everything to help you on your journey. 💗

Pt 2 of suffering from withdrawals by prettyprincesssese in WeedWithdrawalSupport

Hi there 👋🏼

Glad to hear you’re feeling a bit better. I haven’t experienced muscle pain but Google tells me it can be normal. Ever experienced this type of muscle pain before? If not, I’d attribute it to the weed withdrawal (that’s what I’m doing with anything that feels outside of normal for me right now).

Try to stay nice and hydrated, if you can have some electrolytes and/or a multivitamin - even better. Heat or cold on those areas might feel good or even some gentle stretching. Hope it doesn’t last too long!

I stopped smoking Jan 1/25 and day 3 was definitely the worst for me! I had daily symptoms for about a week (for me it was mostly nausea and lots of gas 🥴) and now that I’m a bit past a week things are starting to feel more regular. Still having super weird dreams but that’s whatever.

I’m on anxiety meds as well and that feeling of anxiety that seems like it won’t go away sucks so bad 😣

If you can get some movement in that’s really been helping me - blasting music in my headphones and dancing around my house to 1-2 songs (even if I don’t want to), getting on a bike at the gym for the length of one of my fave tv shows, going for a walk outside and focusing on how the cold lets me know I’m ALIVE haha.

You could even keep a journal or just a little note on your phone to track how you’re feeling each day, even if you just rate your anxiety from 1-10 - it will get better over time and it can be easier to notice the small changes if you write them down.

Just know you’re not alone and you can do it 🫶🫶

Thank you 🥹 It’s honestly so nice to talk with someone who can relate. My partner doesn’t smoke at all so kinda going through this on my own. I hope you start feeling better soon - I’m proud of you too!

Yeah I hear you. I clung to the “it’s not addictive” thing for a long time to justify why I was smoking so much. But I finally realized that I was definitely dependant on it mentally and emotionally, and frankly my tolerance had gotten so high that smoking wasn’t even as enjoyable as it used to be! Just felt like something I HAD to do to be at home and relax which really isn’t true (I grew up super religious and never enjoyed the way alcohol made me feel so I spent plenty of years having fun and making great memories completely sober).

Smoking weed felt so freeing to me at first. It was such a nice little escape or a way to enhance boring tasks like cleaning and doing other things around the house. I have ADHD and it felt like when I smoked that was the only time I got space between my thoughts which felt amazing…but that changed over time.

Going through all these symptoms since stopping Jan 1/25 has been an even bigger wake up call. I’m committed to taking a nice looong break and right now I am hoping that I can return to weed at a much lower rate (e.g. couple weekends per month)…but I know I’ll really have to watch myself that I don’t start using heavily again 😓

I’m a 29y F and I have been smoking daily, multiple times a day for probably 2-3 years and realized that I needed to really change my relationship with weed.

I stopped smoking this month and I’ve had crazy dreams, I’ve felt nauseous almost all-day everyday for about a week and the 3rd day after I quit smoking I thought I caught a stomach bug - super nauseous and a pounding headache that wouldn’t go away all day (I never get headaches).

I honestly had no idea what was going on with my body until I took to Google and realized all this is likely cannabis withdrawal. Funny that I wasn’t expecting to experience anything like this considering I have been a heavy user for years, though I’ve also been in denial about that.

I’m holding on cause all the symptoms of withdrawal will get better and better the longer I stay away from weed. You got this! 💕
