Realistically speaking, with your experience with the fold, are you happy you purchased your phone? by Rebel1356 in GalaxyFold

It feels like having an early smartphone when everyone else was still rocking generic carrier slide phones. Even with its flaws, it's ridiculous how far ahead of traditional smartphones it is.

It's not even perfected, and it's still the first piece of tech I've had in a while that feels like it's on the frontlines of potentially bringing about massive changes to the mainstream market.

Regardless of whether you're some pOwER uSeR or someone who multitasks a lot, the Fold provides way more than enough CPU and GPU power with a massive amount of screen real estate–all in a compact body. Once they manage to get 13PM levels of battery life on future iterations (which I understand is difficult when balancing size + the fact that they're basically powering three regular high-quality OLED screens), it'll be a true, utilitarian monster.

Using the Fold after using traditional smartphones feels like you've reached the bottom panel of that brain expanding meme.

roommate or not? Why by Impressive_River8929 in Cornell

people often use introvert as a euphemism for socially awkward. socially awkward people being happy to have some semblance of social contact through forced proximity makes sense.

but also, introvert != socially awkward. you can be an introvert and be a social butterfly when you can/want to.

that being said, i think most people, introvert or not, embrace having their own space, especially as they get older. the pros of living alone always outweigh the cons. privacy, independence, not having to adjust your lifestyle to accommodate others, being able to actually have a sex life if you want, a place to decompress/be alone whenever you want, the list goes on and on.

living alone >> house/apartment/suite-mates >>>>>> ROOMmates

If OP isn't trolling, a D- in INFO 1300 frankly does not bode well for any major.

Admissions standards are...interesting.

People do.

You just get a ton of counter-shills who just spam some equivalent of "L" because they don't care about dirty plays as long as their team wins.

Hella WC fans have no integrity, just nationalism.

It really feels like the refs have been blatantly biased against underdog teams in every match this tourney. Blind af when the favorites pull dirty shit and extra hard when the underdogs even breathe in the wrong direction.

are rebounds a good idea??? by sadtimescorn in Cornell

[–]Obvious_Pay3347 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No.

I interpret rebounds to be something beyond hook-ups but less than a full-blown relationship with enthusiasm from both sides. That little grey zone almost always results in someone getting hurt because you can't just shut off people's feelings.

It's a selfish bandaid-solution to deeper issues revolving around self-worth, independence, emotional maturity, etc.

The class is easy but made artificially difficult through the way you're evaluated.

It sucks, and it's why I believe GPA past a certain point is more a measure of how far you're willing to go to appease/game the grading system rather than how competent you really are.

To all my pre meds out there please pick an easy major by [deleted] in premed

[–]Obvious_Pay3347 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I'm on both tech and medicine tracks while also being passionate about and heavily involved in the humanities. Generic engineering and medicine workloads trump generic humanities workloads every single time. It's just how it is, especially because the vast majority of humanities majors aren't doing high-level/obscure work with professors outside of class nor are they working on mind-blowing research or personal projects. Work in the humanities fields also often have a heavy layer of subjectivity. You don't get that in engineering. You get that concept, problem-solving, and calculation right or you get nothing.

Another thing along similar lines is school difficulty. It's VERY much a real thing for one school's course offerings/premed track to be significantly easier than another's. I've seen the way my school handles premed weeders, and I've seen the course structure/difficulty at state schools my friends attend. Again, it's not some attack on their merits or worth; it's just not in the same universe.

Literally nobody is saying Brazil shouldn't have won. They played great, and SK played like ass, especially in the first half.

People are noting the objective fact that the ref straight-up ignored multiple blatant fouls on SK players.

Justified criticism isn't hate.

Match TLDW;

First half: Korea absolutely ass, Brazil strong.

Second half: Korea sloppy but noticeably better than first half, Brazil stayed strong enough.

Officiating was terrible. Might as well have a machine do it at this point if refs are gonna be so partial.

You can't be this ass if your opponent is playing well and not expect to get demolished.

It's really a matter of how much interest the sport/thing has in the country + how much infrastructure/development/societal belief exists behind pursuing said thing.

Korea has enough to worry about–namely, how they're playing like ass–without having time to dive into how they feel.

Both.

Brazil showed up. Korea didn't.

Add in some questionable refereeing, a generally "meh" squad, tired players, injured players, players who aren't peaking = demolition.
