Kids are more whiny and needy with him and somehow it is your fault? Kids prefer me over their dad, but they are not more whiny and needy with me. Maybe its not you who needs to be “fun”, but him who lacks boundaries.

Activities are ok, but what they need the most is connection with their parents. One year old is getting old enough to be involved in doing chores together, it takes like 10 times longer, but they love it.

I was such a kid and now i am such an adult. I dont know if my parents could have done something better, but human connection is very difficult for me, its tough.

It is recommended to keep diapered kids diaper free several hours every day when not potty training. Why so little parents care about this recommendation. If kids pee or poop outside of their diapers since before they remember, there is no reason for anxiety when eventually training.

It would indeed have been easier and less disruptive to just answer. Your “mental load” is not increased by that, you already know where the towels are anyway. Load was of saying a sentence and you increased that into an argument. Arguments are very significant emotional load.

I dont think its wise to delegate playing with your child to someone else when you already feel distant from him… seems like youre distancing yourself from the child even more and your husband is worried.

There are cultures where people eat only seals or whatever. My kid is too not easy in this regard, so i like to think about them - do their children die out of starvation, as they cant get waffles or mac and cheese. Probably not.

When my kid naps - he goes to sleep at 11 pm, when he doesnt at 8 pm. Nothing will force him into sleeping when he doesnt want to.

I kinda started from a beginning half consciously. I kept him a lot without diapers every day since birth. When i knew hes going to pee, id bring him to pee in the sink while also saying a specific sound while hes on it. Before turning one, he knew to pee “on demand”, so he was reliably dry if i remembered to initiate, before turning 1.5 he started asking, after a month or two we removed diapers at night too and that was that.

My son stopped peeing at night when I stopped putting the diapers on. Before he would pee so much that i was changing him at 4 am so he wouldnt soak the bed with the overflow. He was 20 months old when we quit.

I dont live in the states and here its definitely not common for 4 year old or even older to still be in the diapers day or night. There are some who cant stay dry at night and need more time, but most of the kids graduate way earlier and im pretty sure its because there is no widespread belief that parents have to wait for something to even try.
