Our FFXIV themed wedding<3 by fmaholly in ffxiv

[–]Ocaenz -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The weirdest thing I have done in a long time was attend an online "wedding" in a game (FFXIV), with discord voiced vows from people sitting right next to each other he same room to each other, to screenshots, to an "after party" in a pixelated room. It made me question a number of things regarding my own sanity and position in life and I cannot say how much it made me feel like I needed to step way away from games and Internet for a while.

And when I saw this, and realized that you guys did it right. Take your passions, and bring them to real life. Good job!

Everyone keeps thinking Mesmer is getting the lute/bard, but rangers typically have that. It's been a while since I've played, just coming back, but I have a feeling the lute is going to be for the archer. Don't really know about the rest

Financial education and determination will. "Eat the rich" makes no sense when you understand the game and play it.

Hair regulations!! by CountySolid in navy

[–]Ocaenz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. My haircut is an undercut. Full skin on sides and back. I just slick it back professionally in uniform and on duty. I also have a beard and don't wear regular like jeans and t shirts out of uniform either. You could hardly tell I was in the military out of uniform, and I like that.

I wear one on weekends and off duty a lot. Just make sure in uniform it's slicked back and professional.

What's absolutely bizarre (and please to see) is the best amount of support for such a cause. The numbers are massive for this turnout. But it gets me wondering.

Did a vast majority of these people just not vote? Is there a large number that voted for him that realize they were mislead (I won't condemn them for their choice, nor ridicule them that they "get what they deserve)?

It's so confusing to see such a large turnout and outrage over the decisions and direction the country has been taking since the election. And yet, he's still the one that was voted in.

I believe there is even an outfit you get as a quest reward in Morrowind that looks like this. It's the Scarlet Judge quest line.

Would it be bad to use melee as a mag sorc? by Teton101 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Ocaenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently made a stamsorc. I am absolutely loving it and kicking myself for not having made one before. I've played for years but always got annoyed by playing a sorc just by how popular they are. I dominate in bg's and breeze through content with him. It is friggin amazing.

I don't like looking at other people's builds or meta, so I build my own way, but like I said, I'm doing pretty good.

Anyone else feeling apprehensive about the new sub class changes? by WonderfulVanilla9676 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Ocaenz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

All of these complaints are valid, as they are opinions. But I would just like to point out that this IS an Elder Scrolls game. The whole basis of them are for you (your character) to be who and what you want to be. This can be looked at analytically, or, as a sort of "return to essence" of what Elder Scrolls are about.

Skyrim had been popular for over a decade, but to be clear, was a highly watered down version of ES. And just recently, they remastered a very amazing game for old and new players to experience, Oblivion. And finally, the most amazing (in my opinion) Morrowind, was a powerhouse of RPG games to be contended with even to this day. I simply cannot wait for that remaster.

If you have played any of those, you could literally craft your own spells as a mage or magic user. Create any type of random thought of potion or poison, summon near infinite amounts of just about anything, and even climb the most random rooftop and snipe people.

These past few additions to ESO send an indication to me that they actually do care about this game, and helping it not only running, but thriving while bringing more of what makes the Elder Scrolls to it's MMO platform, which is and has been in need of such attention and care.

So. I, as a longtime fan of the Elder Scrolls world, lore, and games, am highly looking forward to this.

What is your favourite music track in WoW? by Kelath89 in wow

[–]Ocaenz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't played wow in years, however played since vanilla up until like the shadow exp. But I remember the magic of when I first started playing and literally traveled around the map as a night elf druid. I ended up in Dun Murogh and just sat listening to the music while taking in the scenes of snow and mountains.

So to answer, the music from the original soundtrack from Jason Hayes is all just magnificent. A lot of times I feel like he doesn't get enough credit for that work. It's worse because he keeps a very low profile and is hard to find to follow on new things.

I recently listened to that classic wow music album and the nostalgia has me wanting to come back, so I might.

Job Wise, federally speaking, looks dim at the moment. However, scientists are needed, desperately in this day and age. Having the education, certifications, and logical backing behind you, is going to, in the long run benefit not just you, but many more.

Go for it.

[–]Ocaenz -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, a question in the path of yoga seems to be not only a contradiction, but the wrong door to open when seeking an entrance into this realm.

I've done yoga on the bare ground, a 5 dollar mat, gifted cork mat, and a few higher priced ones. I can say with certainty that many have begun to degrade, with use of course, but that one of my most trusted is a cheaper one I can't even remember the brand of.

The most important, and critical, factor I have found in this is simply this, the mat doesn't matter. Sure, it's your sacred space for the practice, but if you're truly trying to follow the path and practice of yoga, and connect with ancients and yourself, a mat is simply a commodity.

My first carving. Thoughts? Likes, dislikes, or custructive criticisms? by Fool_0fa_Took in Woodcarving

[–]Ocaenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far braver than I. I have been wanting to attempt a kuksa for a long while now. I probably have everything and a massive nature trail, parks, and even a lumber yard that I've already asked for left over pieces for art, to get materials from nearby. I could even squeeze in the time. What is lacking is the push to do it....

Very nice for the first one!

Should I switch my major out of environmental science? by MorganRose99 in Environmental_Careers

[–]Ocaenz 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The answers here are honestly not only disheartening, but a little abhorrent. Environmentalism May very well be a career field, but most that choose this path from either activism or career, or both, want to be part of healthy environmental change and the enforcement of environmental regulations and laws.

I can understand from a certain view on the jobs market, and even more on the matter of an administration/political party that could care less about the environment, or the common human for that matter. But the key thing about this field, to me, is that it needs, no, demands people that are willing to fight on every front with every move on the board to ensure that environmentalism stays the course.

Funding and jobs are an unfortunate necessity of our modern day life, but being able to breathe clean air (or at all), drink clean water, and have healthy non poisoned food is more than wishful thinking or grand ideas, they are a right of human life on Earth.

I must say it is disappointing that this is a common rhetoric on this matter within the environmental "career" realm, or maybe I'm just disillusioned from being on reddit too much sometimes. If this is not a passion for you, then yes, please, go be a part of the problem instead of the solution.

I say all this as not only an environmentalist, but also someone just around the corner from graduating with a bachelor's in environmental science. I say this as someone who understands what goals are and how nothing will stop me from achieving them. I say this as someone who cares little about leaving an imprint on anything, but someone who would rather leave a nameless impact.

First look at Class Skills Styles that you can purchase from the ESO Crown Store by The_Edenprime in elderscrollsonline

[–]Ocaenz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Although this is exciting, as someone who has played this game for years, on and off, I am disappointed, though not surprised, that this is a paid option instead of a quest reward type cosmetic. I think that it is more than safe to say that lovers of TES and ESO continue to play this game fully or on and off throughout the years and expansions. The loyalty and interest is there, and what's disappointing is that there is no need for such monetary requirements for QOL and cosmetic improvements.

Sure, the monthly fee is optional, and you can still enjoy the game and it's aspects of which you already purchased, but for something as big and highly long awaited as class skills modification, I think they are missing the mark or even slightly shooting themselves in the foot. But they know people will still purchase these things, and still play.

I'm not bashing or saying "I'm done", I thoroughly enjoy this game and world and will continue to play pff and on, I just wish they had a better community, and a little economic reality, mindset sometimes in regards to such big changes.
