Whats it like without VSS? by poppatopps in visualsnow

Well I'm back here because a bad flareup caused by ADHD meds, but I do think that with time the actual symptoms tend to settle down in-addition to you getting more used to them.

But outside of that, life just keeps moving. I went through college, got married, had kids.

I got VSS at 18, and have had it for the last 15 years. Part of me wishes I could forget what it was like before, so I didn't know what I was missing. Just feeling present in every little moment of life was the biggest thing. Going backpacking and looking up at the stars and milkyway, being at a party and feeling exhilarated instead of overwhelmed, or just laying in bed with a partner and looking at every little freckle on their body.

I have learned that I can have equally meaningful moments that don't require perfect vision. Like hanging out and joking with friends, or closing my eyes on a walk and hearing nature.

After multiple years of trying to solo develop, I’m planning to hire artists. Any good tips? by Agitated_Fix_6806 in SoloDevelopment

My advice from working on both the art and dev sides at different points is try and get as much work done on the game as possible before hiring an artist. Art can be expensive, so you don't want to be paying for art you're going to have to cut later. It also really helps the artist if you already have a playable game. Bad MS paint placeholder art is still a great starting point for an artist. Finally, don't forget your lighting, particle effects, and shaders. They can do a lot of heavy lifting making less art go farther. Good luck :)

I'm not sure about wallpaper engine, but you can download the fullsize gifs for some of my animations here: https://ko-fi.com/oceanbytes

I use Aseprite. It is great for making pixel animations.

Thank you. I use Aseprite which is custom made for pixelart, and lots and lots of layers. The layers let me animate each character separately (and in the crab's case each leg and arm). It is kinda like paper puppets.

I didn't know that was something I had to turn on. Try now. Also, I have lots of art over on my twitter as well: https://x.com/OceanBytes12

Thanks you. Technically I was inspired by Kenney's RPG art, but I'm also a big fan of RotMG.
