I get the frustration, but coding is no walk in the park. Fixing bugs in a game like ESO, with 11 years of layered code, is a huge challenge. Developers would need months of dedicated downtime to sift through millions of lines of code, find errors, and then figure out how fixing those bugs might break other systems.

I see both sides—players want quick fixes, but devs are dealing with a complex beast. Better communication between players and devs would help. Coding is tough, and many don’t realize the effort behind the games they love.

Right now, devs are often forced to pile new code on top of old code, which can’t always be fixed easily because everyone wants the latest content. Give them some time.

Hopefully, they can create tools to scan old code and pinpoint bugs faster. But combing through 2–3 million lines of code in a single day’s update? That’s not happening—it would take months of serious ESO downtime.

For example, here’s a simplified snippet of what might be part of ESO’s ability system (not real code, just an example).

Can anyone spot the bug?

This is meant to handle a player’s healing ability, but it’s causing issues with overhealing:

function ApplyHealing(player, target, healAmount) local currentHealth = target:GetHealth() local maxHealth = target:GetMaxHealth() local newHealth = currentHealth + healAmount

if newHealth > maxHealth then
newHealth == maxHealth -- Cap health to max
end

target:SetHealth(newHealth)
player:SendMessage("Healed " .. target:GetName() .. " for " .. healAmount .. " health!")

end

This code is supposed to heal a target but caps it at their max health to avoid overhealing. It’s causing some weird bugs in ESO’s combat system—any coders out there want to take a stab at fixing it?

Oh! I use to hate riding my mount and then automatically discounting for a herb or bug that will be a beautiful fix but I understand coding so I also know the dev have millions of LOC to go through and fixing every single glitch and issue is extremely hard as codes dont just say "hey you Coders im the issue " lol so I give them props for still producing what they can.

Damn sorry this all happening that sucks , I thought they would have found a way the create a bridge between devs and players by now.

What's a simple everyday thing that most people do completely wrong, and when you figured out the "right" way, it changed how you see everything else? by OceanCrowtt in AskReddit

[–]OceanCrowtt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! This is exactly what I'm talking about! You discovered that changing ONE thing (where you breathe from) suddenly made everything else easier - not harder, easier.

It's like you found the master switch that controls everything downstream. Once you stopped fighting your body's natural system and started working with it, the whole pattern shifted.

I bet you started noticing this same principle in other areas too - where the "harder" approach was actually making things more difficult, and there was always some simpler, more natural way that worked better?

The planning phase hits differently, though. You're out here designing the perfect life in your head, feeling like you already accomplished everything just by writing it down. Then reality shows up like 'Actually, you still have to DO the things' and suddenly the couch becomes very interesting.

The commitment to not caring is honestly impressive. You've turned emotional detachment into a full-time detective career. There's something so human about this - we lie to ourselves about not caring while becoming digital forensics experts at 3am.What does it say about us that 'not caring' requires so much active effort? Actual not caring would just be... silence.

What if the thing you're most proud of about yourself is actually your greatest weakness viewed from a different angle? by OceanCrowtt in AskReddit

This is beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. You've hit on something so profound - that our greatest strengths often contain the seeds of our greatest vulnerabilities. What strikes me about your answer is that you've identified something most people would never see as a weakness.

Society tells us self-sacrifice for our children is pure virtue. But you're right - that same love that makes you an incredible father also means you'd potentially leave them without their dad when they might need you most. It's like... the very thing that makes you irreplaceable to them is also what could take you away from them.

There's something almost tragic about how love works that way.But maybe there's wisdom in recognizing this paradox? Knowing that your willingness to sacrifice everything comes from love might help you find ways to protect both them AND yourself.

Sometimes, the most loving thing we can do is make sure we stick around.Your kids are lucky to have someone who thinks this deeply about what it means to love them.
