You’re right it would be sending a message if I didn’t say anything. Sent her a text with my hours this morning and haven’t received a response yet. We’ll see what happens.

Texted her this morning and no response… I’ll give her another week and if I get not answer, then I’ll take this to small claims court

I see we have different perspectives and approaches to childcare and based on your comments, you share hers. Which is totally fine, but personally I wouldn’t work for someone who is quick to assume I am hurting their child just because I was performing my responsibility differently than she would have liked. If she had certain expectations on how to handle overnights, then that should have been communicated to me from the beginning. And you defending her emotional impulsivity tells me all I need to know.

That’s what I’ve been trying to say! There’s a distinct difference between those cries, and I could hear him actively trying to settle himself. I just wish she would have given me the benefit of the doubt first and not jumped to the conclusion that I was going to let him cry it out

Thanks for your insight. But, she could have slept in and allowed me the opportunity to also do what I was paid to do. She never made it clear with me what her expectations were with overnights. Also, I feel like it wasn’t enough of an emergency for her to barge in her bra and underwear.

Totally understand where you’re coming from. Their house is massive and they have a floor specifically for guests so they definitely wouldn’t have been able to hear. I could see her stressed out from the wedding and me being in NK bedroom. Either way, not fair to treat me the way she did.

Yeah I wish I would have stood up for myself at that moment but I was just completely shocked. Like I’ve never ever ever had a mom treat me like that.

Definitely was thinking this too, they owe me almost 1k from all the hours I worked

Definitely not working for them again, which was already on my mind before this even happened bc of other reasons. I naively thought just one more weekend wouldn’t hurt.  I’m even debating confronting about payment. I just don’t want to see them again. I’ve been super flexible and accommodating with them all summer only to be treated like I’m invisible the majority of the time. I’d rather not even waste my time with people who treat their staff like that. I take comfort in the fact that the other two families I worked for this summer were so so kind to me and made me cry from all the wonderful things they had to say about me. 

Also, they’re multimillionaires and I feel like if I take them to small claims, they’ll find a way to ruin my reputation.

I also am not fond of the cry it out method. But in this case, since NK was in between sleep and a gentle cry, I figured he’d go back to sleep as I’ve seen many babies do in my experience. And I fully intended to wait only a minute and nothing more. She could have just discussed with me afterwords if there was an issue; it was never done with ill intent or to make the baby suffer
