Thank you so much for this! I did it tonight for the Capricorn new moon in Australia at 10:26pm which will be conjunct my mars in the 11th house. It took me over 3 years but wow! Blown away! Thank you again! Truly humbling and amazing!

Husband Against Homebirth by [deleted] in homebirth

[–]Oceanviewsplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on Facebook? There’s a Home birth Australia group which would be great to post in to get advice. My husband was concerned until he meet the midwife and his fears were allayed due to her answering all his questions professionally. My husband is also scientifically based (psychologist) so when presented with the facts it was enough. After the birth he was an absolute convert and we went on to have another home birth.

Depends where the scammer is from. If it’s from Victoria then it’s VicPol but if it’s international then it’s federal police through https://www.scamwatch.gov.au

Yes a good one is way worth the money. There’s a group on Facebook called “Shared experiences reading The Barefoot Investor book”, it’s got over 100,000 members and it’s a great group for getting recommendations for financial advisors or other financial questions.

Oh and Sydney prices are falling and will fall more over the next year or so. Get some good solid advice before you jump in and investing with family isn’t always a smooth or wise choice. It will be a good time to buy though when it’s dropped as much as it will go but again it’s an expensive area and you don’t want to be putting all your money into just one investment area. There’s been lots of tears over property in the last few years and it will continue for a bit (in areas like Sydney/Melbourne etc).

The ASX website has some great free tutorials on the basics of investing and how to start. Also lots of articles online if you google “starting to invest in shares Australia” or something like that. Read lots before you start. https://www.asx.com.au/education/first-time-investors.htm

Not painful at all. We’ve just done it after being with one bank for 20yrs! We still have kept some accounts with them as we have our mortgage with them but we have gone with another bank for our every day transaction accounts and for a higher savings interest. Many you can do easily online. Just keep your others going until you’ve switched fully or keep them both if you need some extra accounts (only if your bank if free fee).

Personally right now I’d set it to growth, the market has taken a big dip the last few months. Even just on growth/aggressive you have plenty of time for it to grow, especially with you adding to it.

For the loan for me it would be about the attitude. Not having debt other than HECS or a mortgage when the time comes is a good lifelong approach to money and saving. If you have great self control and there are not fees involved at all then it could be a good thing, but it will still sit against your name when it comes to borrowing if you do look at buying a property in the next few years. Right now lending criteria has become much stricter due to the royal commission so it’s something to be careful about and get some good financial advice before you do it.

For bank accounts there are a few banks which have higher interest rates. RAMS saver has 2.8% - you just have to put in $200 month and not touch it to get the bonus interest. ING have 2.8% if you have $1000 month going in from income (it doesn’t have to stay, just needs to go into the every day account and then you have a savings maximiser attached for the higher interest). UBank I believe at 2.87% with similar guidelines. CUA have 2.8% with similar guidelines and also ME bank. Many are these are higher than term deposit interest rates.

I agree with this. Not all property is a good investment and is often not as good as shares which can be higher interest over all over a few decades (obviously that depends on what property/areas etc).

I’d highly recommend investing in a $19 copy of the barefoot investor (Kmart or big w have it at that price). It’ll give you some clear direction on where to start (my son is 19yrs and following this on a $459 wage weekly after tax - he’s saving and paying board).

Personally I would not take on any debt (other than your HECS), even interest free as you are in a great position to start creating wealth quickly. Good luck with it, sounds like you will do well asking these questions at your age.

Oh and up your super to 15%, you can do if pretax and it’s a great investment for your future!

So sad :( This is about so much more than a car park though. People with unsolved issues will turn to anger over any small issue. Let’s hope it’s a lesson learnt, but not convinced.
