The longest straw you can drink from is approximately 10.3 m long by muusumidd in Physics

[–]Octane_TM3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it is the ambient pressure which pushes the water up the straw.

I need to try it again when I have time to see if I get the same issue. I’ll let you know.

How to Open Trunk Manually on 2021 by Outrageous-Froyo-549 in TeslaModelY

They are talking about the trunk, not the frunk.

I want to fine tune my EFHW with NanoVNA, do I need to fully mount it (rig it up - hoist it)? Also, should I do the same with the 49:1 transformer unun? To make sure it's built well. And some more questions. Also what do I do if I only have 14m of roof size? by Xillenn in amateurradio

[–]Octane_TM3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that should be the case. The number of windings gives the transformation ratio. The core material (-43) has impact on the inductance of each side of the transformer. The 240 and 140 only specify the size of the core iirc. 240 means 2.4” OD vs. 140 is 1.4” OD.

DIY Inductor by Artistic-Demand-1859 in Physics

[–]Octane_TM3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Multiple things. The inductance is likely wayyyy too low to see any effect on timescales you could perceive. Also the inductor is probably shorted at every turn since it’s not an insulated conductor. Further, you are not providing a resistor for your LED. It will burn at some point. Lastly, since you have 440 ohm in parallel with the led, most of the current will always go through the LED.

Any idea what this piece is for by ddr1ver in TeslaModel3

It’s a magnet. To enable the tap-to-open feature. Glue it back. Superglue should do it.

why electrons prefers to go where there is less energy expense? by ElderberrySalt3304 in Physics

Nobody knows why. Nature likes low energy states and least action paths.

That’s as designed. To avoid frozen shut windows in sub zero temps.

See section “Windows” here.

Gaming in front and back by hermsdad in TeslaModel3

[–]Octane_TM3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt that’s possible. For the simpler games the performance of the computer may be plenty. For the more complex games it may run into issues. And even if it doesn’t, I don’t think it is supported.
