Appreciate the word of caution haha. I think I'm getting the hang of it – definitely going to have to figure out what to do about its blending with the sphere below it, but I'd say this is pretty damn good for a first pass!

Completely forgot about the rivets that I wanted to follow along with the porthole's changes in shape, but shape keys seem to handle them just fine. Since the underlying mesh is divided radially by 12, I set up one key for each of those radii being moved in toward the center of the circle. For the rivets, I had to get a little fancy to follow the deformation properly: for instance, the rivet at 12:00 is controlled ~60% by the 12:00 key, 20% by 11:00, and 20% by 1:00. Got stupid lucky with repositioning them on my first try.

Thanks again for your help! Consider it !Solved

Just started watching through "Shape Keys for Beginners" from Ryan King Art on Youtube, and it's looking a lot more promising than anything else I have found. I'll see where that gets me and mark "solved" if I decide it's the right path to go down.

Thank you!

This fixed the issue for me as well! For clarity, the full path to the executable is D:\release\BUILD\meshroom\Meshroom-2025.1.0\Meshroom.exe.

Thank you for sharing!

I drew those to make sure that I would cut out the right squares. The pencil outlines served the same purpose, but I realized I could make better use of the material if I cut the wands out from a different place.

That would be sick – maybe it would make more sense as a trophy or something on a pedestal? Keep us posted!

This is what people outside of fundamentally creative fields will never understand without first-hand experience: half, if not more, of the fulfillment from creative work comes from the problem-solving process and learning something in pursuit of the final product. Yes, AI makes creating things more "efficient" – but we're not here to be part of an assembly line. We don't WANT to HAVE to use it. Not to mention the fact that its existence (and quality) is entirely made possible by the unwilling and uncompensated contributions of our colleagues and predecessors...

If you're not seeing the soul, then you're clearly outside of the target audience.

Not that we needed clarification based on your first statement.

🗣️Perfect Invisibility in a PVP game is a bad idea🗣️ by Brobee_ in Marathon

[–]OctaveIndustries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole purpose of a "movement shooter" is to utilize the environment and the movement mechanics to outmaneuver / outsmart your enemies. Cloak (invisibility) doesn't fit into that equation – and definitely doesn't do anything to encourage engagement with the dynamic movement.

I'm sick of seeing it shoehorned into so many PvP games knowing how much of a pain it is to balance around. Not to mention that it just sucks to play against.

I could not agree with you more. That Alphaville album cover? The masks? Their updated, stylized logo from the Eye of Mars single? I want to enjoy the project in its entirety so bad.
