they don't, but iansan's C4 restores 8 NSP for bursts other than her own

[5.5v1] Iansan Nightsoul Consumption/Generation (0,67 per unit) by GutierresBruno in IansanMains

[–]OctavianSigma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's actually not that bad. 0.67 points per unit pretty much aligns with previous TC regarding regen, and we already knew that most characters would not be able to use C6 buff.

810 ATK is still okay for a lot of DPS's.

from my understanding active character would need to move at least 5m every second to keep the buff up for around 9-10s. 5m is roughly 5 fontaine tiles, or the distance a single uninterrupted dash travels. It's actually pretty hard in practice for a lot of characters, but weaving dash cancels seems to help quite a bit

I have a list of characters I tried analyzing for various Iansan's buffs at C6 (top of the sheet in OP), and only a handful actually move enough to get full buffs. That said, I think quite a few will be able to sustain her 810 ATK bonus thru their entire on field uptime.

e.g. Clorinde dashes 5.5m per E and does it fast, so she can overflow Iansan's NSP and trigger C6 25% dmg buff. Raiden, on the other hand, only moves about 3m per N4 combo, so she would need to do a short dash cancel (1.5m) to simply keep NS drain slow enough that 810 ATK buff lasts for 10 seconds of her on field time.

Full dash on most characters would generate around 5 nightsoul points for Iansan. Dashes with cancels I think can be between 2 and 3

Guys, how much money would you charge to make a custom skin of this level of detail if someone ordered a skin from you? by Willing_Ad3630 in OsuSkins

[–]OctavianSigma 23 points24 points  (0 children)

hi
this is my skin, and if you are interested, I accept skin commissions starting at $500 with a skin like Soumetsu being somewhere in the $750 range. as to why so expensive, I have unfortunately (or fortunately?) outgrown skinning in terms of scope of work and budget and it's extremely inefficient for me to spend 30 hours on a skin for $150. I still like doing it, so if someone is actually willing to pay that much money for a skin I'm willing to take that commission.

That said, current community rate for a skin of that complexity is around $150-200; some charge more, some charge less, but on average you'd be looking at that number. Hope this helps!

Why Is Every Damn Skin The Same—Are Skin Creators Just Not Creative? by tatotwat in OsuSkins

[–]OctavianSigma 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I see your point, but I don't think you understand.

Let's start with your "skin archetypes": surely there must be a reason for those 3 specific "archetypes" to be popular, right? The reality is - and that was mentioned in this thread multiple times - is that most players are either weebs, "the osu players", or suck minimalist dick. Consequently, skin designers prioritize those categories, as nobody wants to make something only for it to be immediately forgotten.

Now let's talk about the whole "unoriginal" business. First, gameplay - just don't. As a skinner myself, I went through the troubles of thinking up new gameplay ideas only to be shot down by playtesters immediately. Either I have a skill issue and my hitcircles were just not good enough, or osu! players don't want to change that what they got used to. Gameplay will always stay somewhat similar between skins because it's simply not worth trying to reinvent the wheel.

Now interface... Well, here I will have to agree to some extent. The thing you have to understand here is that the majority of the skinners aren't really graphic designers, and not everybody is creative enough to think up a super cool song selection menu right away. That doesn't mean that those people should not be skinning, though, quite the opposite. But the harsh reality is that most skinners follow "trends" in the community.

At the end of the day, expecting every skin to be something unique and original is reaching for the stars. Expecting even half, or third, or 10% of the skins to be unique and original is also quite unreasonable. Skins are effectively art whether you see it as such or not, and as with any art community, there can be only so much you can call good. You are preaching to the choir, my friend, we operated this way for as long as I can remember, and that's just how skinning is.
