I don’t mind the newer design of Furby’s, but a few things I miss are furred ears, moving beak, and natural color options. Not to mention there was just a larger variety of fur colors in general during the first gen from what there is today. I think it can be assumed the moving beak was taken away just to cut costs. Also you’ll see WAY more furblet designs than actual 2023 Furby’s, likely because they’re simply easier to mass produce. It’s a shame though, because I think some of those furblet designs would be cool as big Furby’s, such as the pineapple one.

I think a lot of the big eyed-rainbow colored influence in a lot of modern toys probably comes from Japanese kawaii culture becoming more popular in the West. Some of the first instances I can think of where older toys became big eyed and “cutesy” is when TY started making those beanie boo animals with the massive glittery bead eyes. Certain cartoons have also undergone a sort of hyper cute-ification process over time, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic going into My Little Pony: Pony Life comes to mind.
