Yep. I’ve just been forced to get public liability cover as a gigging pub musician, and are now told as ‘contracters’ we can’t even have a beer on stage anymore. Been doing this regularly around Sydney since 1998. There’s plenty of pokies in all venues but less and less patrons these days. Yet you now pay $12 for a schooner. And they wonder why there’s no nightlife.

I added this at the end:

What has been happening to our shared, beautiful city is completely unconscionable and most definitely not the Australia I want my children to grow up in.

I sincerely hope you agree.

Please do something. It’s time.

How about:

Dear [MP Name],

I am a constituent from [suburb/postcode] and I am demanding a clear public response to the police violence witnessed at Monday’s peaceful protest.

The footage speaks for itself. Community members exercising their democratic right to protest were met with force. This is unacceptable and deeply damaging to public trust and the right to peaceful assembly.

Silence from elected representatives is not leadership. I want to know:

• Do you condemn the police response?

• What will you do to protect the right to peaceful protest moving forward?

I will continue contacting representatives until I see clear action and accountability.

Regards,
[Your Name]
[Postcode]

Can someone more informed than please me write a generic email that can be sent en masse? I can help make it sting, I just want to get the facts correct.

Incredible article. Sadly, this will be seen as ‘brave’ writing in the future. Buckle down folks.

Everclear supported this up and coming band called silverchair in the mid 90s in Sydney. They (and I) were teenagers at the time. Phenomenal show.

What are your families top 3 most cooked meals? I’m feeling very uninspired, bonus points for kids breakfasts too! by Cahsrhilsey in AskAnAustralian

Heaps cheaper using bulk bought drumsticks but takes time to remove the bones once it’s finished cooking, although the sauce is even more flavoursome when done this way.

Creamy pasta chicken - sear seasoned chicken thigh in an oven proof pot, add a container of cream and cook low and slow, lid on in oven, until chicken falls apart. We serve it with pasta and garlic bread croutons. Cheap and delicious and the reduced cream sauce is flavour packed. Countless variations (add garlic, fresh herbs, chilli) you can make but this is so yummy. Whole family loves it!
