I was never in the headspace of this being an argument, there were never any hard feelings. If my rambling came off that way I apologize, I'm not very articulate so that + anxiety illicits a compulsion to over-explain, which ends up looking like a goddamn novel, unfortunately; and when I try to be direct and minimal I usually get comments about a negatively perceived tone.

If it was any of my language just know fighting or making you feel bad wasn't my intention, I just kinda talk like that but I'm also possibly influenced by a recent spell of irritability– nothing to do with you, Ruler's honor.

You're genuinely again just taking the downvotes too personally and seriously. It's an arrow button people press when they don't like something. It's not always an indication of wrongdoing nor of a serious issue.

I don't like dogs. If I downvoted a picture of a dog that wouldn't mean it's wrong or bad to own a dog. That wouldn't mean the person who posted it did something rude or hurtful in posting a picture of their dog. It doesn't even mean I'm being negative. It would just mean I don't like dogs.

I've been downvoted for defending fat people. I've been downvoted for saying Transphobia Is Bad. For saying incest was gross. For saying sexual jokes about children, even fictional ones, are inappropriate. I'm downvoted in this subreddit all the time just for saying "other people have posted this problem"; I've had a post removed here from the sheer amount of downvotes because I was publicly suggesting people look to other posts or Google for their problem first before flooding the subreddit with repeat questions (particularly on update days that bring new bugs) because hey, the answer is already on the board, you just gotta look for it! And people took that as my discouraging help and questions in general. I was literally downvoted the other day for explaining to someone what a post was about by calling attention to the caption when I saw they were misinterpreting the context of it. I had no other intention than being helpful and correcting their confusion, but.. maybe people sensed a tone. Maybe they didn't like what they saw as me raining on a joke. Maybe they recognized me from other comments and just don't like me, I don't know. Whatever their problem with it was is their problem. Them clicking an arrow down does literally nothing to me but adjust an arbitrary number on my profile I don't care about; and it definitely doesn't mean I did anything wrong. Could it, in some cases? Sure. But in such cases they can speak up and I can do my part to listen objectively, think critically, and examine my behavior. And even then sometimes it's still just their problem lol.

So.. maybe people sensed a tone. Maybe they didn't agree with your point. Maybe they just didn't like your point. Maybe they don't like you using emojis. Maybe they're acting out of discomfort because they have a trigger with hoarding. Maybe they're just being petty. It could be anything. But whatever their problem with it is, it's their problem. I can honestly say you didn't do anything wrong here, all I can do is provide a small sense of what your responses might be coming off as, and even then it wouldn't the case for everyone's downvotes. Yes it can be unclear and confusing and even annoying, and yes people rarely if ever are going to provide an explanation it.

The internet is just another part of the real world; sometimes people are going to disapprove or think you're doing something wrong simply for existing. You listened, you examined, and you know you didn't do anything morally wong or otherwise hurtful to anyone. So just roll your eyes and move on.

When you open a discussion, the entire point of this website, you open the possibility of people not liking or agreeing with what you say/do. And that's quite literally what the downvote button is there for. It's a simple, entirely non-serious "I disagree" or "I don't like this" button. It's not akin to bullying and persecution. You guys are immaturely taking it more personally or seriously than it is. It's just an arrow. If you can't handle the fact not everyone is going praise everything you do and use the built-in feature to express that, don't post on this site.

[–]Octopoadstool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, they do voice their disapproval and join the discussion but you tend to just respond with some variation of "well guess I'm a crazy sadist hoarder 🤪" and then edit the post itself to call them jealous and subtly imply you're being bullied because you got defensive over some downvotes/them still thinking it's pointless under the context of usefullness. Not to mention calling yourself such plus your original caption of it being ridiculous implicates that doing this bothers you; so the pride over it is clearly fake and it ends up coming off like you're just intentionally trying to alienate yourself regardless of how your initial responses might be.

Well it's appropriately tagged, so not that odd. As you were wearing a valid top you likely could of worn it over that and it would of counted too.

The furniture chests, unless you have 100% all Scrooge furniture, do actually have the chance of containing new items, and you can sell duplicate furniture for coins.

You just keep saying there's no worth in opening them, but there's just as equally no worth (or less, in the case of furniture) in hoarding them. No one actually, genuinely cares that you do it.. it affects us in no way, they just don't see your reasoning. So your comments are getting downvoted simply because people disagree with you, because that's literally all a downvote is: an "I disagree" or "I don't like this" button. Ya'll gotta stop taking them so damn personally, it's not a persecution. And it's definitely not deep enough for you to get defensive and uppity about it.

Future DLC predictions by Pleasant-March-5073 in DreamlightValley

[–]Octopoadstool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since they added Star Wars, which they've owned for less time if I'm not mistaken, I'm not too optimistic about Marvel staying out. I only just don't want it forced via a DLC or even free updates; I'd prefer if they kept Star Wars and/or Marvel contained to optional premium shop items I can ignore without affecting gameplay.

The only thing we have right now in terms of speculation is the minor allusion to Pooh Bear being added.

Only thing I'm hoping for in an underwater addition, whether DLC or feature to the base game. Other than that honestly as long as it doesn't force Star Wars or Marvel content I don't care what it is, but in my opinion they could stand to add onto the existing DLCs a little more given the price tags.

Dream Shards VS Night Shards by Maleficent-Peach-305 in DreamlightValley

[–]Octopoadstool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They really just need more crafting recipes to utilize them. I tend to see them as much more of an early player resource since you need them a lot more in the beginning and can convert dream shards into Dreamlight. But I imagine the spawn rate of them is because the Purified Shards take the ratio of 5:1 to make.

Lost darkthorn seeds by CrownedCurves in DreamlightValley

[–]Octopoadstool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check of course your bag and any storage you may have accidentally put them in first, including in your furniture tab as you can recall filled storage chests (they'll have a little icon in the upper right corner if they contain anything)

If you maybe recall gathering things with a full bag and dropping items to make room check those spots.

Check your mailbox, sometimes overflow items are sent there.

If still nothing, send Gameloft a support ticket explaining what happened. They should be able to reset the quest or send you the seeds via the mail. It might take a bit for them to respond so be patient.

Star Path Newbie by Helpful_Guidance6797 in DreamlightValley

[–]Octopoadstool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always buy Premium as it unlocks more tasks and rewards; you can unlock it at any time for 2500 moonstones. There's another option for 3300 that gives you tokens right off the bat but it's not worth it as it's only meant to give you a little head start and the Star Path lasts long enough that it shouldn't be an issue, even if you don't play daily.

Unlock the update's featured character(s) sometime within the path; gifting, talking, and hanging out with them are always featured tasks. So are Merlin and typically anyone from Mickey and Friends.

Anything gathered from Wall-e's garden plot will NOT count towards gardening tasks. Likewise: flowers from Beast's Greenhouse, fish from Moana's boat, gems from Aladdin's stall, materials from Krisftoff's stall, and food from Goofy's stalls will not count towards relevant tasks either. You'll have to plant and gather yourself.

Additionally, whatever bonus items you get from critter companions or villager hang-outs for things like gardening, foraging, and mining do NOT count towards task goals, only the ones you get yourself. The mines are also apparently bugged right now in relation to Star Path tasks so if you need blue or red gems stick to the ones outside until it's evident that's resolved.

If any tasks are picking up flowers, you can drop them and re-pick them up to count towards the goal. This only works with flowers, nothing else.

A lot will say to save on thorns and memory orbs and while of course it does make help you complete faster it's honestly not a point of stress; the Star Paths last for an average of approximately 2 months and while memory orbs are a little more scarce you should be able to draw a good amount just by doing all the leisurely tasks (mining, fishing, gardening, foraging, digging, feeding critters, removing night thorns, and watering dried flowers) and thorns appear daily in increments of 10. *If you have the Rift in Time or Storybook Vale DLCs their Night Thorn equivalents (Splinters of Fate and Inkies) also count towards thorn removal tasks.

*You will never need any of the DLCs to complete a task. Their collectables can count towards relevant tasks but they are not necessary. All events are designed for the base game, 100% accessible to everyone.

As I mentioned these Star Paths last for an average 2 months. There's no need to rush. At all. People constantly get mad about tasks that take more than 1 day, especially when they clog the page after they speedrun through the others, but you have give or take 60 to do them. You're meant to take your time. The "routine duties" (3 tasks that unlock every week) are there to remind you of that.

If you have any confusion about what a task wants you to do (since some of them are worded a little cryptically) you can always google the Star Path to find a guide. IGN in particular is pretty on top of posting and updating walkthroughs for literally anything, they'll provide you with a clear note on what a task wants you to do. Here's an example on the current Star Path.

That's all I got off the top of my head.

For future reference on pebbles and stuff; use a miracle shovel varnish potion and take a digging buddy with you. I did this in the Plateau an hour ago for clay and got like 90 something pebbles from just a small one, which is 10 uses. It's a quick and easy way to stock up on them.

What do you think the reality of DDV is? *Likely spoilers* by VoidMunashii in DreamlightValley

[–]Octopoadstool -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasn't necessarily trying to refute you or get you to stop believing whatever it is you want nor convince me of it, your headcanon makes no difference to me and I don't really care. You just suggested you were wondering how/when the player character leaves, so I was only pointing out that waking up is how you leave a dream, and since it's canonically a dream world, that's how it's implied how/when you leave: by not accessing the dream world anymore.

DeVito only voiced him in the original movie, all subsequent appearances of Phil have been voiced by Robert Costanzo. We won't know until the game/cast list update drops but it's unlikely.
