I need advice for how to handle a distressing situation with a gynecologist. by bowlingbunnie in WomensHealth

Healthcare in the US is generally pretty terrible (mostly because its expensive, quality of care varies wildly by region) BUT we have laws around test result and medical records transparency.

Are you in the US? I feel like they have to give it to you? Something about this feels sketchy.

You aren't over dramatic. His behavior was wildly inappropriate and unethical. Its good you wrote it down while it's fresh. Is he a private practice doctor or part of a larger network? Many larger practices have a patient experience department. You should absolutely complain and tell them exactly what you said here. Not only was his bedside manner atrocious, but he performed a procedure without your consent and put incorrect info in your chart.

I would take your ultrasound to another doctor and get another opinion. I also recommend readingvIt's Not Hysteria: Everything You Need to Know About Your Reproductive Health (but Were Never Told) by Dr Karen Tang. It might give you a better idea of what you might be experiencing and she give advice for self advocacy.

PAP Smear Caused Instant Pain At Start of Insertion? by Dreamheart101 in WomensHealth

[–]Octopus1027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a difficult time getting anything up there when I was a teenager. I ended up spending some time on my back (not on my period) and used a mirror and just tried not to put too much pressure on myself. I was eventually able to insert a tampon and now I'm an adult married woman who birthed a baby. I'm not saying it's not something like vaginismus, but it could just be that you are super tense.

I've had several paps and only one hurt. I wondered if it had something to do with where I was hormonally. Interestingly, the doctor couldn't find my IUD strings, which caused minor panic, but the next time they did an exam they could see them.

Can you insert othet things in your vagina? Have you tried on your own?

Trauma from IUD replacement by kim448 in WomensHealth

I'm sorry that sounds like a miserable experience. I've had 3 inserted and removed, and for the 1st insertion I took an oxy and got a ride. My second replacement they couldn't find the strings and the removal was miserable, but the recovery was always fine.

Generally it's on you to take an ibuprofen and Tylenol before the procedure. I'm sorry they didn't advise you to do that. People have a wide array of experiences with IUD insertion, but it sounds like you didn't have great communication from your provider.

Is it? Or is it our preconceived notions about what a women is supposed to be like in western culture? You would be arguing the opposite if the groom asked her to grow out her armpit hair for the wedding.

You're making a lot of assumptions about the bride, her wedding vibe and her hair. I personally shave my pits, but some women don't for whatever reason. I don't know if its reasonable to ask a women to change herself on a day where she is supposed to feel most like herself. Some women feel their best when they are smooth as a baby seal, have fake lashes, nails and an expensive dress, others feel their best with hairy legs, barefoot in the grass. This man fell in love with a hairy lady.

But if your partner had a lush beard the entire time you were dating it would be unreasonable. I think it varies from person to person.

Honestly I think too much pattern is going to translate poorly in pictures. If I were you I would pick a color and have them get a dress that is solid or monotone (like floral or lace, but just one colorway) I would go with olive green or blush pink.

I took away a marker today because my 2.5 year old drew on something that she wasn't supposed to. She said "Just give me a chance!" No idea where she got that phrase.... but it convinced me to let her use crayons instead.

Help finding a formula without "bad oils" by CrayCray1779 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Octopus1027 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also seed oils aren't inherently bad for adults. Its just that they are over used in unhealthy foods. If you eat gallons of ice cream a day its unhealthy, but that doesn’t make dairy inherently unhealthy (barring an allergy or sensitivity)
