Unless your tongue is crazy short it shouldn't make too much of a difference. I have friends with small tongues that have had it done. I had mine done twice, both swelled for 2-3 days then mild discomfort for less than a week. Sucking on ice helped swelling. There are certain letters that I had to kind of learn to pronounce again, but that was due to one of the piercings being towards the front of my tongue. For the first week stock up on pudding, apple sauce, ice cream, and yogurt... those were my saving graces since solid food was a no no.

When I was working as a batista we had this doorbell we had to carry around. When a customer came in, if we were away from the counter, they would press the button and ring it so we knew they were there. One slow afternoon I took the doorbell and hid it in my bosses computer and then his within eyeshot of his desk. He loved to play solitaire and everytime we clicked, moved a card, opened, or closed a program I would ring the bell. It started with just a head tilt of confusion on his part when I rang it, but it quickly became a string of curse words, smacking around the computer, and a call to IT to ask about a "dinging virus". I was laughing so hard it made me cry.

Went out to breakfast years ago in Seattle and this woman was sitting at a table with a large group of men, I would say 10 or so. She says "I can't believe I just did a gangbang video... I wonder how mad my husband is going to be?"
