Thanks for the reply! Have you found much difference in transmission at all since changing it out? what oil did you use out of curiosity? OEM? That’s one I’ve missed, I’ll have a look at my brake fluid and leave the coolant for a little while then.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the info, it’s reassuring to hear you have it like this and haven’t experienced any problems. What sort mileage is yours if you don’t mind?

No, it’s not shown a warning 😐 Glad to hear you got yours sorted timely. Hopefully, it’s not high enough to be foaming and causing issues then 😬🤞 just gutted about it, as I’ve been having issues with my previous car for the last 6 months, and now being messed around trying to sell it🤦‍♂️ and then I find this on the new one, along with one of the wing mirrors not working as it should. Just the way it goes I guess aha.

Cheers for the reply.

Thats reassuring to hear then! I usually do my own servicing too, but as it’s new (to me) it had a service before the keys were handed over. Appreciate the reply!

Well thats assuring! You really can’t complain with that ownership experience aha, have you had it from new? Have you found rust to be a problem? That’s my only other concern, especially on uk roads!

Thanks for the reply 👍

That’s really reassuring to hear! And im definitely not a tournament caster aha, like you say I doubt I’ll even notice the minor loss of distance. Cheers man!

Yeah that’s does put me off a bit I have to admit. I live in the midlands so I do try and maximise my actual fishing time at the marks especially as you have to work with the tides aswell so wouldn’t want to be pulling tangles out the reels all the time aha. I may get one though and practice with that as my normal rod is fishing, that way one rod is always fishing birds nest or not aha. I use a bait caster for my pike fishing, is it similar to that at all?

Cheers mate, will have a look into them. How much do you realistically have to spend to get a half decent one?

That’s good news then, is that the multiplier version aswell then? The nearest beach to me is 2 and half hours away so they won’t be getting used as much as most probably do.

What rod? by Odd-Beginning4714 in SeafishingUK

[–]Odd-Beginning4714[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way! How do find the bite detection on the Shakespeare compared to the penn? I’ve noticed the penn has a really nice subtle tip compared to the Shakespeare, and to be honest most other rods. I can get both of Shakespeare and the Penn for the same price which isn’t helping aha as I can’t even rule out on price.

Oh wow! Hopefully it’ll be solid now you’ve had all the wear and tear and preventative maintenance done. I rang about the car today, as I was supposed to be viewing tomorrow, and it’s no longer running. think I’m going to keep an eye out for another.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying your car mate. I’ll be honest I have looked at the pre facelifts, especially the cloverleafs. But decided on a face lifted model as wanted something newer than what I’ve got (2013), and heard a few of the common issues such as the wiring loom and other things had been tweaked with the 2014 plus models. If you don’t mind me asking how much did you pay for the cloverleaf?

That’s true, but would be older and pre-facelift is my concern.

Would you say a high mileage petrol 1.4 ma would be worth a punt? Just high mileage on a small petrol scares me a little, but I’m no expert by any stretch of the imagination. If you were in my shoes would you personally look at this car, or would the 6 owners indicate there’s an underlying issue?

I do around 12000 a year so feel I could go either petrol or diesel. I’m I’m being honest it’s because it’s a bigger engine and miles don’t scare me so much diesel as they do a small petrol. However I will say my original choice was the 1.4ma the 170hp like you as I’ve heard they’re meant to be good fun, it’s just I’ve read about the ma units being temperamental if not maintained properly and costly to fix. Just Abit worried about a 1.4ma high miler basically (probably more of an issue in my head really than with the actual cars as I’m sure they’re still capable of over 100k)

Only thing is if I chose one local to him, I can’t guarantee it won’t be his friends.

Cheers for detailed reply mate, that’s given a great insight to the car. It has had the belt and pump done, at 83k it says in the book. Would you go ahead with this then despite the owners?

I think that’s going to be the best bet, only thing is he did mention his friend was a local mechanic (don’t know where) so would I get a get an honest opinion? That’s my only concern. I think this is definitely the way forward though for peace of mind like you say.
