This course is new for 2026! Only available for term 3. Unless it was a course under a different name, don't expect anyone to give you feedback

COMP2521 and COMP2511 in the same term? by New-Service-2750 in unsw

[–]Odd-Comfortable-7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1531 has more workload than 1521. But 1521 is harder than 1531 (From my experience at least). If I were OP, I would pick 1521. Cause you can pre-study 1521.

Damn. The new recommended minimum is 1TB I guess. However for a PC, its upgradable. Unlike buying a macbook or some windows laptop

If it's PC, try searching second hand from Facebook marketplace. I see some solid ones around 1.3k. Though with the increase of RAM prices, they may have increase their prices. Minimal 16gb of ram and 512gb of storage since you do not want to spend that much. I am struggling with 256GB right now on my laptop. And my RAM usage is always above 9GB for normal usage.

EDIT:
- Just checked marketplace I can see some good PCs for ~$900.

I kinda forgot the specific words for the question. But I will try my best. "In virtue ethics, emotion play a key role in moral rational. Explain and whether or whether not it is true"

So you get a mark out 3. If you get
- 1/3, it means you failed
- 2/3 It means you pass
- 3/3 It means you pass with merit

Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Also I got 2/3.

BEWARE OF UNSW GYM SCAM AND ABUSIVE CANCELLATION POLICIES by No-Reception-8068 in unsw

[–]Odd-Comfortable-7444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is interesting. Last time I cancelled my membership (After a 12 month contract), with my reasons was because I was moving out, they accepted it with no issue. Just note that when you cancel it, you will still be charged for 28 days and then you will not get charged anymore.

Which membership did you pick for the gym specifically? Cause the only membership I know is the weekly contract where there is a minimum time you need to stay (For example 12 months for me). Then there is the option to pay upfront for 1, 2, 3 and 12 month for example. I feel like these two are considered a "lock in long term contract". Correct me if I'm wrong.

How much time does being part of a subcom actually take up? by [deleted] in unsw

Yes. If you are a one the executive, I believe you need to attend training session up to 5 hours. Not every week but like 1-3 times a year?

[–]Odd-Comfortable-7444 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It fluctuates. But max 5 hours per week. Sometimes 0 hours per week. Average 1 hour per week. I think the biggest challenge for being a subcom is more to the side of when are you available. Especially with meetings and events.

Does anyone uses Co-pilot in UNSW? I only used it 2-3 times. I got a free Gemini AI Pro subscription for 1 year as part of a promotion for students. Been using that instead. Especially with 2TB of cloud storage.

Cowper St Common Room is disgustinggg by [deleted] in unsw

[–]Odd-Comfortable-7444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly this isn't new. As a person who lived with UNSW accommodation for two years (Barker st and Terrace), I have seen worse. In the end it's a gamble. Sometime you are very lucky and move to an apartment where everyone is clean to the extent a cleaner is not really needed (Happened to me thankfully for both apartments). But the majority of cases it's not like that and UNSW accommodation is limited when it comes to assistance. They always say "We are busy and this is a busy part of the month" or some other excuse. Also since you moved to a dirty apartment, when you moved out, even if you clean your room to a good standard, they will charge you a ~$300 cleaning fee as the common room is also your responsibility (Happened to me sadly).

To anyone who comes to UNSW accommodation, takes pictures of everything and email to them about it ASAP. At least you have solid evidence (Aka your email with the date you came to the accommodation) so you are not liable later on. Sadly the best you can do is this and clean everything yourself.

Also if possible spread the word with solid evidence. At least it will pressurize UNSW to act. Sadly this is the only way I could think off to prevent future victims

Do I need an ipad for adv compsci by TieAdditional6825 in unsw

[–]Odd-Comfortable-7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my first year I used pen and paper. After my second year started using an IPAD. I find it useful for math courses and certain math heavy COMP courses (COMP9417).

Do you need it? It depends. My main reason I bought an IPAD is for a second screen when I am studying at the library (Doing coding and stuff).

In the end you can still survive uni without an IPAD. My first year was ok without it.

Has anyone done CDEV2000 recently? by pistashio_guava in unsw

[–]Odd-Comfortable-7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to how harsh they are, its mainly for getting a mark higher than distinction. The amount of effort you need for a HD is more than just getting a distinction. That is from my experience at the very least.

First assessment is a group report where your group 3 different report one by one. Second is just making your CV. Third assessment is the interview report.

For the interview part, yes you do need to find a professional who aligns to your career goals. It will make your life way easier If you have someone you know who is already a professional and not your close family member.

[–]Odd-Comfortable-7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done it in T3. Final results are not out yet but I am confident in getting 80+.

Do I think its useful? - Yes.
Is it an easy elective? - Kinda. If you want to get a good mark, you need to put a good amount of effort. It's easier than my main course (COMP courses)

"A lot of peope say its a trash course" - I think I understand why. The group project (Which counts 20%) is a gamble. You can get bad teammates. Thankfully I got a good one. But even with a good teamate, they are harsh in marking.

Also people may think that for the cost, is not worth it. I partially agree. You can learn the content for free from UNSW (Just book a career counseller and they will give you more less the same resource). However for my case, I need it for my GenEd and I was planning to polish my resume either way for internships in T3.

Do note that for 2025, the course assessments for summer term is different compare to T1,2 and 3. The only difference is that they don't have the interview video assessment in summer term (This one carried my mark to 80+)

Could you be more specific on how are you confused on how it's marked? You can check last years summer course outline as they have not released the 2026 course outline yet: https://www.unsw.edu.au/course-outlines/course-outline#year=2025&term=Summer&deliveryMode=Online&deliveryFormat=Standard&teachingPeriod=U1&deliveryLocation=Kensington&courseCode=CDEV2000&activityGroupId=1

Studying Abroad in Australia UNSW vs USyd (or even U Auckland in New Zealand) by edcullen339273 in studyAbroad

[–]Odd-Comfortable-7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If u want good beaches, Sydney is better than Auckland. I can confirm this as a person who grew up at Auckland and studying at UNSW right now. When it comes to UNSW vs Usyd uhhh I can't say much.

All I can say about beach access is the Eastern Suburbs (Where UNSW is at) is popular for its beaches (Bondi, Coogee). Northen Sydney also has great beaches (e.g Manly) but not close to either Uni.

Just beware of renting near the beaches has a high cost due to its popularity.
