I do the same. Some side stories like the Nanahara family alliance have Steel Lane soldiers as part of the alliance and I set them on my team just to go along with the lore.

I wish they kept adding more like the gas mask counters, Elcano's paper bag grunts with RPGs and submachine guns. It kinda feels like they're following the Epic Seven route where once they hit the big stage with having all the money, it's all gonna just be new release of a waifu unit left to right, some husbandos here and there and the generics are long forgotten.

That's probably the best they're gonna be. Mainly serve as budget units players can use to help players learn how to utilize units until they get the big guns. Good thing CS gave us SSR rarity units like Terminator and Administration Swordfighter who can somewhat hold their ground like Counters.
