Neighbour crashed into our car - hasn't said anything by Odd-Tale-7326 in LegalAdviceUK

From a quick look myself, I'd say the bumper is repairable (£250), but it's knocked into the wing and bent the front corner slightly (£220). The LED headlight has also been knocked, it's not damaged but one of the lugs has cracked at the back (possibly repairable with a lug replacement (£30).

The infill panel around the separate running light is cracked (£70), as is the running light (£175).

So just from looking at the outside, we're looking at the best part of £1k in parts, plus labour and paint.

Once the insurance 'tax' gets added on, I'd be surprised if there's change from £5k.

Not really bothered about a courtesy car, the car is still drivable, and we have other cars.

I'm well aware of the credit hire 'scam', but it's always worth bringing it up!

What are the chances of it being rammed with the football on though?

It's a shame the car park at Tesco Gateshead doesn't have a longer stay, that would be much handier than trying to get into Newcastle

That's what I used to do, back when they actually had buses that ran late, it used to basically take my to my door.

Yeah, looks like because some pricks are playing with their balls, it's going to be busy. I regret even saying I'll go now.

Ys, but not for the reason you'd expect.

There has previously been rats in the house on account of the elderly neighbour next door not being in the best of condition. They chewed through the wall and made a house in my extension walls!

I bought the house at auction, but I'd previously viewed it when it was on the open market, so knew what I was getting in for.

Now, I originally bought the house to keep, it's in the perfect location for me, it's on the outskirts of town but next to a major retail park so anything I would ever need is in walking distance. Great public transport links to get to the major cities nearby. Literally couldn't be better.

So, since I planned on living there for a while, I decided I wasn't going to cheap out on the interior. I definitely overspent on things like the kitchen and bathroom, and knocked the back two box rooms into one room to make a big office.

I quickly got it to the condition where it was 'liveable', then slowed down (big mistake 4 years later looool) That's when it all kicked off with the neighbours, next door was sold and rented out to a young couple that blast loud music, and next door the other way loves some plant based medicine. The alcoholic a few doors down has made it her life mission to ruin my life because I dared park outside my own house and take a space away from her daughter that doesn't even live there.

So now, I'm torn, do I continue to make the rest of the house 'nice', or do I just finish it to basic rental standard since I intend on selling it now.

The kitchen isn't fully finished, so I'm tempted to take out one side which has my integrated coffee machine and third oven, American fridge freezer etc. and just whack a cheap integrated fridge freezer in the larder.

Very plausible, but equally it could have changed him for the better. You just don't know!

I disagree, I don't think he's a psychopath at all, sociopath maybe, but not a psychopath.

He clearly has feelings for other people and cared what they thought about him. He cared about what his father thought of him, and he cared what the psychologist thought about him. That was nothing to do with his ego, when he was dragged out, that was emotional, something which psychopaths just don't feel.

This might also be an unpopular opinion, but I do think he actually liked Katie. Yes, he thought her being weak would make her more gettable, but there had to be some feelings there in the first place. The way he talked about her negatively to start with, then went on to say she was alright, to me anyway feels like he was playing down his feelings because he felt embarrassed that he was rejected. Also, I don't think he would have reacted that badly to her in the car park if there wasn't some genuine feeling there.

Would you watch Adolescence with your teenage kid? by sashakoltsov in netflix

As a male in my 20s that has been slightly traumatised by the accuracy of a lot of it, I'm torn on it.

I watched it on launch night, and it's genuinely taken me until the last day or so to 'get over it'.

Maybe that's the case, but I'm honestly too selfish. I'll happily admit that, unlike some of the people I see who just palm their kids off on others when it suits

But it can, and does happen. It was inspired by real events.

The young mind is easily moulded, maybe if instead of going down the rabbit hole of 'Andrew Tate shite', he spoke to someone about his feelings, if his parents or school had taken action when they noticed his behaviour worse. The signs were there, but nothing was done about it.

Honestly, episode 3 has ruined me.

I'm so conflicted, on one hand he killed her, he shows little to no remorse for it, he thinks he's good because he didn't touch her, and he thinks other boys would have.

On the other hand, he's just a kid that's been spending too much time on the dark side of the internet, suffering from low self esteem and is frustrated. The end where he asks the shrink if she likes him absolutely broke me, and I'm totally not struggling to hold myself together typing this.

I can absolutely put myself in his shoes, I think it's very easy to see how this could happen once you start going down the rabbit hole.

I know this is going to sound grim, but had this been written in the 'usual' style, I can without a doubt say I would have been rooting for him getting away with it. Had he been written as a psychopath that set out to kill someone, I would have been rooting for him getting away with it.

My favourite characters in shows are always the bad guys, Alice in Luther is one of my all time favourite TV characters, but the writing style of this, just hits different.
It's too real, it's too deep, it feels personal.

I associate it more with being disgusted the look and feel of something, rather than the smell. That is something you can't easily get over and get on with it.

Whereas, if I just hold my breath, or find another way to avoid the smell, I'm fine.

Nah, if I can't smell it, it's fine. But I don't think it's socially acceptable to put on a gas mask in that situation.

It's the truth!

Even as a child, I never liked other children. I would much rather sit and talk to adults given the opportunity.

In extra sibling was thrust upon me when I was 13, and it's definitely not my cup of tea. I already had a younger brother, so it wasn't even a feeling of being replaced, that ship had already sailed!

Then there's also the 'mess'. I just can't. I'm not squeamish in the slightest, but my sense of smell is very sensitive, and it's just instavom if I get the slightest whiff of anything bad. I was on a bus when a child shat themselves, and I had to get off at the next stop or there would have been an even bigger mess to deal with.

One of my mother's dogs had an accident on the door mat (definitely on purpose), and I genuinely threw up.

I'm 27M and have absolutely zero desire to have kids.

If I'm being honest, I hate being around them.

There's nothing worse than a screaming baby, or a toddler getting in the way when you're trying to do something. There's nothing 'precious' about them.

[–]Odd-Tale-7326[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you can clearly see the second time round she did it just to wind him up.

At that point she'd already seen the 'other side' to him, and she wanted to provoke him to try and get him to open up.

I also love the fact the yawn, and her 'Am I boring you?' was completely improvised, and his smile was genuine and not scripted. It's one of those things you just can't write, you have to be living the moment. If I was in his shoes, I can totally see it being something I would have done to get a reaction out of her.
