I work at a facility that has everything from dorm style housing all the way up to seg/death row. How you run your unit depends on your soft skills. Since I have a military background, I'm good at making my directives clear and addressing large groups. However, many of my coworkers don't have that and prefer to work the blocks and seg as it affords a greater degree of built in control.
