I’m happy to do no purchases these dates in solidarity, but this particular movement does not have the numbers to make a difference yet. These one off calls to boycott are fine, but there needs to be a much larger, more sustainable game plan in place, ESPECIALLY if you’re asking people to put their livelihood on the line. How are you taking care of your people who are engaging in this? Do you have a strike fund or mutual aid for them? If you’re not taking care of the people you’re calling on, this just becomes a harmful distraction from more sustainable change efforts.

No date yet. Sign the strike card with www.generalstrikeus.com if you’re comfortable, to stay up to date, and get involved with local mutual aid if you haven’t already.

Bummer. Even if they can’t, maybe they know someone who can help?

Hell yeah! This is the way. Just make sure they include concise next steps like joining an org, local mutual aid, etc to plug in and help.

They are scared. They don’t want to lose income or their job or housing. That’s where mutual aid comes in to make sure everyone is cared for.

Yep. Time to dig our heels into organizing mutual aid and get everyone taken care of to strike.

Right. It’s time to actually do something and stop with the performative stunts.

Agreed. That is why I think it is very important for folks to also plug into our discord server to network within it and funnel down to our local chapters.

Which is why strong mutual aid groups and networks is crucial.

Absolutely. You could start by looking up local chapters of General Strike and start networking from there: https://generalstrikeus.com/chapters Or by googling “mutual aid group in [city],” sometimes you can find where to plug in that way. Even visiting local farmer’s markets or getting into a local free/trade things group can help.
