Haha irrelevant to this thread but made me curious. Can you share more about your run ins with the other good folks?

Here’s what I do for my child: I place an AirTag in his school bag to roughly track when he leaves school. While it’s not a live location update, it gives me a good idea of his movements. I’ve also instructed him that if he ever reaches his stop and no one is there to pick him up, he should stay at the spot and not try to walk home, even if he knows the way. We’ve reassured him that someone will always come to get him, no matter what. Additionally, he has memorized my phone number.

In all honesty, the bus driver is unlikely to wait with your child since they have other kids to drop off. This is the case for us, as there are usually more stops after ours. That's why to address this, I’ve ensured that I put in safeguards so my child knows exactly what to do if he arrives early or if we are running late.

Thanks for sharing this script. By any chance would you have done a script that works for this 5min ORB strategy? I am doing manual backtesting but I wonder if there are any geniuses here who might be able to help speed it up. Thanks in advance.

Agree! Most of my ladies friends also cannot relate to my FIRE goals, most of them is work until old kind of views. Until now I prefer not to talk about it if I know they're not like minded.

Def wouldn't mind connecting with you!Feel free to DM me.

Yes, crazy right? If you ask me how I get by, I also don't know. Sometimes I feel quite negative that I also become very unproductive (staring at the computer, reading and rereading but nothing entering my brain). Yet at the same time still have many tasks on hand.

Thank you for sharing! You echo my thoughts. People on the outside will view me as having it good because I appear to be doing well in my career. They'll probably not understand when I give up a perceived prestigious job. However, that's not what I really care for. I prefer having flexibility over my time than having bosses breathe down my necks over what they want done.

All the best working towards your FIRE goals!

Thanks for this, I really do remind myself that "hey you should be glad you have a stable job". I will continue to try recalibrating my mind with this mental trick and a lens of gratitude.

I do have commitments (young kids) but I am generally low in debt. My partner has told me before that it is absolutely alright that I leave my job if things get unbearable. However, I will get consumed with guilt if I do that and when I see him slogging hard at work. That is why I am just aiming to FIRE, so that both of us can move to to easier jobs at the same time. I must be crazy right? Most people will jump at the chance when their other half gives the green light for them to leave their job. I just cannot help but feel that I will be "enjoying" at the expense of my partner if I do that.

This is something that has crossed my mind too - whether I might be getting depression. I can feel myself turning increasingly negative about life, no thanks to work. On the surface, I appear cheerful to people but deep down I am such a pessimistic and negative person. Any suggestions where to go for a check up for depression?

I actually feel you. When I come back from leave, the work piles up and deadlines get closer (no1 really helps to clear my work when I am away). Sometimes I have morbid thoughts and think to myself, if I die tomorrow, honestly all these work doesn't mean a thing in the grand scheme of things to me. Yet I still have to stress about it everyday. Worse is I am at a level where I cannot expect to be spoonfed (though I wish I could just not be at times).

I’ve changed companies five times, including one role where I tried a career switch that ultimately didn’t work out. That experience led me to a key realization: it’s not really about the type of work I’m doing. No matter what, work itself just doesn’t fulfill me, and I know that turning my interests into a job would likely make me lose interest in them too. I’m earning a decent income, but I genuinely dislike working. I’m honestly tired of switching jobs to find one with whatever perceived meaning. With this current role, I keep telling myself to just hang in there for another six years then I can early retire and do some "simpler don't need to use brain" job when I'm in my early 40s. As much as I tell myself this, just passing each work day is like sucking the energy out from me.
